    Major Computer Problems...

Hi everyone... I guess I'll start the the specs...

    Intel 1.8 GHZ P4
    Intel Mobo- D845EBT
I think I have a maxtor hd as my main drive? and a westerd digital as my secondary hd...
(If you need more info.... ask.)

OK, so heres the big problem.... The other day I left my computer on when I went AFK.... (as usual).. When I returned to the computer I was back at the windows xp logon screen and my account was completely inactive... hmm so I logged back on and left the computer running by itself for another 30 min...I come back, and I'm on the logon screen again. Soon, I went to bed and left the computer running all day and all night... I come back home from school and in White letters across the screen it says "C:\Windows\.......................... file is corrupt, please insert your restore cd and press "r" to repair.... So I dig my cd out of the pile, insert, press R, and the screen goes completely blank and the monitor goes into standby...I wait a few minutes and turn the computer off. Turn it back on, and I don't even see a boot screen, nothin!!! The monitor doesn't even wakeup from its "sleep" mode... I turned off the powersupply and took the little battery off the mobo, waited a few minutes and put it back in, hoping to reset it or something, but no, it is still not able to boot up... Is my motherboard completely dead, or is my HD broken? Maybe one of my memory sticks went bad? Whatever it is I hope somone has a solution

    Re: Major Computer Problems...

Try isolating the problem down. Unplug all the drives from the mb, remove one stick of memory and try booting. See if it makes it into bios, if not try the other stick. Good luck

      Re: Major Computer Problems...

hmm, I removed one of my Corsair Sticks and it booted up, but now it gets completely frozen on the manufacturer logo screen....

edit: OK, I set up all the BIOS settings. I can get past the manufacturer logo screen but then the screen goes blank again....

Edit: Ok, I was looking around the BIOS again and now my keybaord went completely dead.... The numlock is still on and I just plugged it into this computer and it works fine, but the other computer suddenly refuses to respond to keyboard commands...

Edit: ok, WTF! I got the Windows error again on startup and the screen just goes blank again right after I start it.... Time for a new ASUS mobo.....plus, do you think I could format that hard drive in this computer? It is running windows 98....
