How to make your login (to account server) quicker

Many people complain about how long it can take to log in to your account. I discovered that the log in time is directly related to your server favorites list. One who has many servers (especially servers that are no longer running) can take minutes to connect to the account server. If you delete all of the servers you don't need and just leave your list of favorites, you should connect faster. I used to connect at around 30 seconds of waiting, but now it only takes about 3 or 4. Just a nice little tip I thought I would share :)

And idea which config file those favorites are stored in?

Manually removing them in the browser is a pain in the tail.

Edit: Oop! Hehe, no sooner asked as I found it. General.con under your profile folder in the BF2 mydocuments thing (I really hate it when games make folders in mydocuments!).
Be careful if you're going to edit that file. There's lots of things to break in there.

Also, if you delete your account and then use the account recover feature, it loads A LOT quicker.

Here is the way to keep it from happening over an over.

                Go to: Drive:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001

-Replace 0001 with which ever profile folder you use.

                -Open General.con with notepad.

-Delete any lines starting with GeneralSettings.setServer.

-Save and close, then right click on that same General.con.

-Click on properties and check Read only, Apply, ok.

This here is not a bad idea at all. If you've got any real favorite servers, leave those lines in place.

Problem with setting to read-only is that whatever you do in the future won't be saved, including new favorites: for this, you can always set them manually in the file using notepad/whatever, so be aware of this...

Yeah, I have a LOT of favorites in my game but when I opened the general.com I see none.
Wait, now I looked in my other profile and I have a general.com of 13kb but when I open it there is not even one line of text! wtf?

I don't see it as a problem since I don't use favorites, and prefer a fast login.

To make sure you are in the right folder open Profile.con in that same folder to make sure it's the BF2 nick you use.
