Patch Non Default Help -EA CANT COPY OF IDIOTIC RESPONSE INCLUDED

Hi Guys I stopped playing BF2 for a while but decided to come back when i decided to get the expansion pack. I had not updated my installation in a while so I went to patch my installation. I was upset to see the patch return an error saying it can not find my current installation. Does anyone out there know how to work around this issue??
I am including my conversation with EA tech support.

I can not update my installation because the patch is saying the game is not installed
I currently have my game installed in a non default location
    under the D drive

The game works as it is. Can you please help?
    Thanks

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts. I’m sorry for the difficulty that you are having with the game Battlefield 2.

An improper installation or corruption of the game data can not only prevent the game from loading, but can cause the game to crash at seemingly random but very specific points in the game or even have issue adding any updates to the game. When such an occurrence happens, it’s best to manually remove all of the components to make sure that next installation does not run into the same issues.

..... A BUNCH OF UNINSTALL INFO INCLUDING REGISTRY MODIFICATIONS....

It still can not find the game.
It does not seem to be an issue of corrupt game installation.

    Hi Emilio,

Thanks for writing us back at EA Technical Support. I understand that you still encounter the issue. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Unfortunately, you can't install the patch if the game is located on a different drive location. This is because the game developers made the game to have a default location when there's a patch or update release. So even if you successfully download a component from the default (c:) location, it will not be installed to the game because it's located on a different drive. I'm sorry but there's no workaround for this. You may try to have this as an idea and suggest it on the message boards for the game developers to read.

    My latest Reply

That is the most retarded thing I have ever heard!

I sent the original email explaining the situation and was sent a bullcrap standard response telling me to reinstall the game. If there is no real work around to patching the application that is not in a default location this means you did not even read my email. Your probably not even reading this now.

On the other hand if this is the way you truely believe you should trouble shoot things you should follow your own advice. Stop reading this email and fire everyone that is working there and rehire them. This might fix your developer issues.

If there is no work around I would like you to refund my money back!!!
There is NO reason at all that you allow the installation of a game in non-default location and NOT support this. I applied once to be a developer at EA and this really makes me glad I am not working there! I do not envy your postion in the least way.

Please let me know how to proceed to getting reimbursed for the purchase of this product that you can not support.
