Xfire could be reason why you crash.

I have seen many posts about people saying there game has crashed alot, and they think it is because of the 1.22 patch. Well my game use to crash alot until a buddy of mine figured out the problem. If you have and use xfire alot it can cause your game to crash. The reason, is beacause xfire has a built-in screenshot button thing i guess and mine was set to scroll lock+S, which is the default. And so when someone xfired me, I would think im hitting scroll lock+x sometimes but I was accidentally hitting scroll lock+S which caused xfire to try and take a scrn and therefore made my game crash. Im not hudred percent sure of this, but since I just took the xfire scrn shot thing out altogether I havent crashed yet. :) Oh yeah and to take the xfire screenshot off manually, just go tools>options and change the scrn shot key to something very odd that you dont ever use.

i agree - because BF2 is so ram intensive any other app using ram at the same time will cause instabilty and crashes
every time Xfire (and any other internet based or constantly running app like antivirus) needs to redial or updates it uses fluctuating levels of ram and that destabilises the game

Xfire had this problem before (if it even is xfire) with BF 1942, if i remember correctly.

I personaly have no problems with running xfire my AV and 2 firewalls all at the same time but everyone does have different machines.

Stopped running xfire...stopped having problems w/ BF2. Although that was before my current video card...

Mine was the other way around - Xfire would die whenever I played BF2, meaning none of my friends could follow me into servers etc. I did a major upgrade on my system in January, and now never have a problem running both together... More RAM could be the answer...

Xfire and BF2 run fine together for me. When there was problems with screenshots in the 1.2 patch, I did not even know about it cause I was taking my screenshots with xfire. Works as good now as it did back then.

Nope, xfire is not a problem here with BF2.

If resources are a problem and xfire seems to cause a problem with your system and bf2, then you need to correct the resource problem which is hardware related...not software related (ie... you need more resources). Xfire does not take much at all.

On a side note, I changed me xfire screenshot to "scroll lock + PrintScreen". Its easier to hit with the keys side-by-side.

Actually. This happened to me. I laughed after I figured it out.

I kept getting intermittent complete haults/slowdowns while flying and fighting...I was so mad at the server because i thought it was lag. So I finally figure out it happens every time I hit the S button...lol. So I alt-tab and find that xfire has taken ALOT of screenshots. So I deleted them all and went back in game and hit Scroll Lock once and the problem went away.

That was somewhat entertaining...
