Reclaimant an unused name?

My friend and I were talking about great names and think about starting a couple extra accounts to play on the side. Is there a way to get a game nick from someone if they created it, then stopped using it?

The account we are speaking was created when BF2 came out and it looks like the person quit playing a month later. Seems like a waste if you can't get it. Kinda like how email servers now has started deleting accounts if they are inactive after 3 months.

Not sure if it is worth it, but it is funny how this comes up and just hours after I was complaining about how many dumb nicks are out there like Jones4934847 or ))n00b2988.

Will EA hand over a game nick that is abandoned?

The e-mail accounts that got closed down were most likely free ones. People paid for their BF2 accounts and don't expect them to get taken by anyone else.

Well, it is one of those perfect gamer names that would relate to the sniper kit. I just don't want to have some h4x0rz version of it. Just a clean name. Sometimes it is daffy when you see R0ck3tCh1ld because you can could not get RocketChild. Oh well, I will post in the EA forum and see if they have something. Else I will have to sink to one of two things...one of them being a h4x0r name.

Mind you again, this is not for me but my homeboy that got shafted when someone grabbed his nick before he could register it.

i think EA unfortunately has the edge in priorities here..... im sorry bud, but you have to have a number after your name like everybody else....

I think EA should delete all account unused in the past 6 months. This would free accounts for other people who would keep them active and possibly free a little server space.

Ya, I guess this should be a point pressed in the interview questions. Have some script setup that makes the names available after 3-6 months of inactivity. You apply for it, and then an email is sent to the email account of the nick saying if this account is not reused/resubscribed within 7 days, it will be handed off.

Of course, there will be d##kheads that will just want to sit on the name though they know they are not going to use it.

1. as 1 i think like 60-80% of the over 1million customers play the game for a few days and then never again, i know several guys like that

typical is that they play till they reach 1500-3500 global points

2. a lot of guys have several accounts, i my self have 6, but i only actively use 2

3. this game is fairly old now there are copies that are resold already several times over, every one of those created a new account and eventually got bored of it

so with that my guess is there must be close to a million abandon or just about never be used accounts footing around

and I think unless you guess the password or email account attached you will never get any of them

The player account names are set up through gamespy, not EA.
