    1440 X 900 Support?

I'm in the market for a new monitor. I'm searching for 19" LCDs and was considering the option of widescreen. 19" widescreens have a native and max res of 1440 X 900 and I was wondering if BF2 would put up with this resolution. If not would any resolution still let the game look natural. Anyone who has one of these monitors or knows anything about bf2 on a 19" wide, i need your help!

This is the monitor I am considering for widescreen:

If I don't get wide i'll still probably be going with Westinghouse, is this a good brand in general?

PS: My budget is $300 US and below (prefferably store bought)

Never heard of Westinghouse... probably not too reliable.

As for support for widescreen, BF2 does not have it at this time and the devs have yet to say if they will support it. There is some line you add to the target box of your BF2 shotcut that will make BF2 run at the full widescreen resolution, but the HUD will look distorted and widened. People also say that it cuts off the top and bottom parts of the normal field of view, but I guess that's something you're gonna have to sacrifice if you want a wider screen.

Most other games support widescreen resolutions fine.

I dunno the chance that some good games of the future may be stunted by my widescreen is enough of a push for me to go with the regular 4:3 aspect ratio

there is no widescreen support for BF2. my laptop has a widescreen and I seem to play fine but it doesnt look as good as it would if they supported it. I would say just get the moniter heres why: all you other games and programs will look really nice, bf2 will still look pretty good.

            Another f'up from EA!!!

I have a 32 inch widescreen lcd monitor
and all my other games play amazingly well on it.
I run CoD2 and WoW on it perfectly

hmm well i play CoD2 and WoW so thats cool... Plus Counter-strike source supports it. Those are my main games for now but im gonna be playing ghost recon 3 with my clan for at least two years so thats one of the deciding factors, if GR3 supports it then thumbs up, if not then im going standard 4:3.

              Thanks for the advice all!

Not officially, here is what I use to get my resoultion to 1680 x 1050
In the short cut on the desktop or in the start menu you need to add the Red shaded to the target line.
In the Red bold add the resolution you want and the game plays at that resolution. You can adjust the settings.

                example:
                C:\GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

                example2:
                C:\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900

                  YAY big help thanks!

Does that work for other games too?

Will that override your settings even after you log into your BF2 account right?

Dont know about others, most likely not but maybee different command to change different games.
                    Wont override the resolution.
                    You can change the settings.
