    About the modify content error

    Admin, please make it sticky.

The cause of error: Many people rename their Bf2.exe for optimzation purposes. When you run an update file, the renamed exe is not updated.

Fix: overwrite your old bf2.exe with a updated bf2.exe, or rename your modifed bf2.exe back to its original name, and run the update file again.

I got this error for a long amount of time, wasn't fixed with this method.

Mine was fixed by a complete uninstall including registry then a re-patch.

I never changed the executable and I cant play wake because of unmodified content stuff :p.

Add a bit about not running anything else while patching and how to fix it, then sticky it

I had this problem with the last patch. I tried using the incremental patch, but I then downloaded the full version which corrected it.

Renaming the BF2.exe is absolutely idiotic. It's been known to corrupt fraps files (which can waste countless time), and literally has little to know visible performance change.

All it's every done is caused problems.

This isn't the only cause of this error. I'll repost from another thread about my modified content error message:

This has occured since I bought the game. I have reinstalled windows twice since then, and BF2 probably six times.

I think the issue is that my PC is too fast and I load before the server has the map fully loaded or something.
