Unmodified content!! AGAIN!!

This is bloody unbelievable.

I am restraining myself as much as possible but I am fed up!

With each incremental patch, I have had to reinstall! I get the error "This server doesn't accept modified content" (or something similar). What is the deal!? Why does this happen? This happened since 1.12, then 1.2, then 1.21 and now 1.22.

I've now got to go and uninstall and reinstall the game for about the fifth or sixth time in recent months, just for this 9mb patch. FFS. Fed up.

Sort it out DICE! I only just reinstalled the game a couple of weeks ago.

Use the full patches instead of the incremental. Yes the download is longer but is worth it as you can make big jumps in reinstalls if necessary. One fat file is easier to wrestle with than 6 small itty bitty problems.

If the patching attempt gets you a unmodified content error, simply reinstall the patch.

I dont like using Incrementals because of potential of errors.

I've ended up downloading the full versions each time, I should know better by now. What I can't understand is why DICE can't make a small patch install correctly? I see it's not just me, lots of other people seem to get this error, and the only reported fix is to simply reinstall.

Well, it's not good enough. Like I say, I've already reinstalled more times than I can remember because of patchs, I'm begining to dread patch releases.

The fact I reinstalled literally a few weeks ago, and haven't changed or modified any files makes me feel like I've done everything right.

Don't move this to support, it's not a thread asking for help, more a complaint toward DICE. Wait for the flamers, "My install went fine, stop moaning", well this is a discussion forum and I want to discuss this!

Dice doesn't make the patch installers... and neither does EA anymore.

Look at the patch screen. It's got another company name on it. They're outsourcing.

Ive had the unmodified content error today because my machine was "Busy" broswing the net, scanning etc... during the patching. My attempt to fix the problem at the root was to reinstall the 1.22 patch. It worked after I disabled the anti virus, took a coffee break during install of patch etc.

If that reinstall did not work for 1.22 then I was prepared to consider the possiblity of reinstallation of BF2 from the beginning.

I also defrag, checked for errors and spyware and consider my machine as healthy as I can get a windows to be. (Knock on wood) yesterday because of the AF release and patch rumors. I usually do all the maintainance the day before so that clears up any issues that might otherwise interfere with patching or installations of new games etc.

It is easy to get angry and frustrated and reformat the computer and rebuild everything from a clean plate but really does not solve the error does it?

I say again that the Incrementals is not a good way of patching. I wonder if there is a bigger issue now that several incrementals have been released these last few months of the BF2 game.

I too feel a bit of fear before patching BF2 now and need a drink to fortify the spirit before battle. Schnapps! Bottoms up!

Have you used the full patch when you reinstall? In other words

1. Install Bf2 vanilla off CD, no patches
2. Install FULL 1.22 patch.

I am not saying you're an idiot or anything, but that should be how you reinstall it. Incrementals have seemed to mess with more people than the full patches.

You should allways do the following when installing to be safe:

-have nothing running
-disable anti-virus if necessary [norton ]

I see your point, but the ultimate responsibility that the patch works belongs to EA and DICE.

It makes no sense to have to download full patches, where most of the patch content is what BF2 is currently working with, for 9mb's worth of alterations.

I appreciate your comments Heavy552(AWG), I too try to keep my PC as clean and efficient as possible using anti-virus' and spyware tools. I also defrag' frequently. I really don't know what else I could do, I don't think there is anything.

I will try and reinstall the 1.21 FULL patch, then the incremental 1.21 - 1.22 with anti-virus and browsers closed down, while I wait for the full 1.22 to download.

It's an unnecessary waste of time, I wouldn't have posted this thread if it was the first time, but it's everytime!

I also had the same problem. My biggest gripe was having that silly help man (yes, Mine got it right). But when I unstalled everything (cant unstall Euro Forces on its own), except all the config files etc. (that solves the problem of the help bloke)

Installed :...... BF2 - SF - Patch 1.22 FULL - Euro Forces

Now all it sweet :)

Re-installing patches just dont work. Gotta do the whole lot

Is there a config file with the key binds in it that you can backup before reinstalling? Rebinding keys is torture.

Oh well I kinda accepted the fact I've got to reinstall now. With such a big game though, it takes a while, bah humbug.
