Now what?

I d/led and installed the new patch (1.21 -> 1.22), and to test it out started a stand alone server- but couldn't join it.
Name was red, and predictably therefore I was given an error about having a different version... than my own server!?

Ok, so I tried to join a "real" MP server (whose names are the normal white), but after the map loads I get booted for running a different version.
Seems like something went wrong with patching...

I uninstalled the game, restarted, reinstalled, restarted, patched, patched, patched, patched... now I'm up to date again, everything's fresh.

Same prob, can't join anything!

FWIW I noticed upon logging out my version # in the lower left is: 1.1.2716-548.0
Somehow, that doesn't seem right... but what do I know?
Only that I can't play :cry:

Any suggestions?

Where did you download it from? Also, I have the same version (1.1.2716-548) and everything runs fine. One last thing, are you trying to join a Euro Force server?

Got it from one the links posting here, sorry not sure which.
And no, its not EF servers I'm trying to join- tried three besides my own, all were vanilla maps with the server near empty, so I could test it out before playing.

Have you tried downloading it from a different mirror you did originally?

your not running 1.22, that's for sure...
maybe you clicked the wrong patch to download? (probably not lol)
try downloading full 1.0=>1.22 patch and see if that works..

Same prob here i get the unmodified content error, but you can't re-install this patch without re-installing the whole game, comes up with this patch requires 1.21 to install.

But I did get the incremental from a different source, uninstalled everything and reinstalled- now it works!

Bit of a pain, seems I had a bad file, but its ok now so I'm happy.

Edit: dunno if this matters but just occured to me to include: my first d/l was named something like "bf2_1.21_-_1.22update.exe", while the second was "bf2_incremental_patch_1.21_-_1.22.exe".
Not sure if that was part of the prob, but it was the only visible difference.

You dont need to reinstall the "WHOLE GAME"

Try the 1.22 full version instead.
