Your point of recoil in RL would have made Carlos Hathcock shot impossible. In 1967, Hathcock set a record for the longest combat kill with an Browning M2 .50 BMG machine gun mounting a telescopic sight. The distance was 2,250 meters (1.47 miles). Hathcock was one of several individuals to utilize the Browning M2 machine gun in the sniping role.
I bet that M2 was mounted on a tripod.

Listen, it's not the power of PKM that's unbalancing, it's the RELATIVE power of PKM that's unbalancing.

If a STANDING PKMer can kill a DAO12 (autoshotgun) user at close range (which support supposed to be sucked at, especially while standing and shotgun user should excel at), there is something wrong.

Semi-auto (lets not take the glory away from the engineers even further)

Anyways the PKM should be ok now. Ill bet that PKM video had a LOT to do with why they changed it.
And that video is the pwnzor.

does that mean if I make a Mp7 sniping video they will nerf the Mp7 as well?

Yes they will nerf the mp7 if you can kill about 20 people without them being able to tell where you are from about 100m+

PKM standing killing a DAO-holder? Not if you've been moving, then you're either lucky or at point-blank where even an unzoomed sniper rifle would hit. If anything, I've had better luck greasing PKMers across the pavement with the DAO than anything else.

They didn't change much, if anything they just converted it to what it should have been in the first place. People will still be whining when they get sniped by a PKM, because... you know.... it's not like you can snipe with a G36C.

It also brings it closer to the power of the other LMGs, which is good because now there's actually an excuse to pick them again.

I will bet that if you make a video on sniping, complain about how the sniping on snipers is too good, they WILL nerf it. Why? Because they are EA.

It's called firestorm... can fire upto a million rounds in one min. All controlled by electronic firing. I saw a 30 min video on it. They have them fixed to plane wings and ground troops laser the target area, firestorm flies over the area and automaticly knows where to hit. Pilot does nothing but flies over the target.

Ha! If you want to shoot it out in real life, I will gladly take a 7.62x54 machine gun with some body armor against some 12GA buckshot any time, at any range, any shooting posture. Or any other gun in the game for that matter. Modern infantry has been structured around the squad machine gun for decades for a good reason, man. They are manufactured because they excel at killing people, not destroying random bits of dirt and concrete.

I agree that the G3 needs to be adjusted for accuracy to reflect its actual abilities. Right now it sucks. Thing is, in 1.22 IT STILL SUCKS. Just that the PKM sucks again too. For once in a mainstream game, they started doing SAWs correctly. But instead of learning from one good example, they bring it "back into line" with all the other horribly done weapons.

Random deviation is the bane of all that is good. It simply progressively removes player skill and tactics, since within a certain range you have just as good a chance to hit or miss regardless of how well you handle the weapon. If you take the time to set up and actually aim carefully, the bullets just come out at bizarre angles and miss anyway. And frankly you are just as likely to be gunned down by acrobatic support "noobs" since the random blunderbust-like spray provides a comfortable margin of error.

And the G3 still can't hit the broad side of a barn. Unless you flick it to full auto and dance around like an epileptic fairy. But we should be used to that by now.

Arguing BF2 via real life is pointless, and is a final resort for when actual balance arguments run out. The fact that they just adjusted the fire rate of a weapon should show how much they care about making sure the guns accurately portray their real-life counterparts.

And the random deviation mechanic is simply an alternative to recoil and scope drift, and a rather good one because those two methods are both incredibly prone to cheating.

just tested the new PKM in game, I LOVE IT NOW.

It's no longer a noob cannon when you can just hold down the trigger and get the kill, but the first shot is still accurate enough to snipe.

Never was a noob cannon, you won't hit crap just holding down the trigger.

All that's needed is to run an electical current through the special caseless ammo and *poof*, hella rate of fire.

The latest I've heard about the project is that they're planing on using that base design in two main ways. One is as a postionable super claymore, and the other is to mount it on a bot.

This would make some good source stuff for BF2142, eh?

Ok... off topic, but hopefully interesting.

I'm glad to hear they make a reasonable sounding tweak. I'm gonna have to go in and test it later. Would be nice to be able to play support again without feeling like a whore.

It's called 'Metal storm' and was developed by an Australian *beams proudly*.

Good work auzzies for coming up with the first truely new way in about 100 years to put led into people.

                              Hmm. Dubious honor, no?

FYI, this really is consitered the first new technology in firearms since the invention of the automatic. Since then, everything has been a variation on the theme.

in 1.2 and 1.21, yes, you would.

in 1.12 and 1.22, you have to compensate for recoil.
