New monitor and BF2 Won't Load - HELP!

I just went out a bought a new 20" LCD monitor and everything works great except it won't load BF2. It tried, goes black and then back to desktop. Everything worked perfectly until I switched monitors. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

yeh its probaly the refresh rate,
have u still got youre old moniter?
if so plug it back in load bf2 and set the res to 800x600 60hrz to be on the safe side.

then load up ur new 20" and it should be ok

my guess is youre moniter before either
A: hade a higer res than the 20"
b: had a higer refesh rate than the 20"
    c: both

hope this helps you,i did it myself and had to reinstall bf2 as the old moniter had its day :)

Did you switch back to your old monitor to confirm that it is actually the monitor, and not just a coincidence? The only thing I can think of is that BF2 doesn't support the aspect ratio options for your monitor, but would think it would just display wrong instead of the app quitting. Strange...

Re: New monitor and BF2 Won't Load - HELP!

          example (true)

          i had a 19" moniter played bf2 800x600 85 hrz
          then the moniter packed in,

so i used me old 15" which only supports 75 hrz.
when i loaded the game i had the same black screen and stuff.

im 99%sure the same has happend but......
i dont no what res the guy had or refesh rate but im gussing the old moniter had a higher res/refresh/both than the new 20"

so i quick swap should do the trick.then set the gfx lower and refesh to 60 (to be safe) load a quick sp so it optimizes blah blah.

bang in the new 20" and ta daaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

at a minimum the moniter must support 800x600 (lowes res for bf2)
at a minimum the moniter must support 60hz(lowest refresh rate for bf2)

some moniter can go up to 1600x1200 ect

so lets say u had a moniter that could go 1600x1200 and u played bf2 at this res.(its saved in the game options and can only be changed in game)

then you decide to get a 20"lcd screen that only supports 1280x1078 then you would get the same prob as topic started.

so remember when u upgrade youre moniter be sure to lower the res just incase.
note if you moniter decideds one day it will switch itself of(like mine did) then u have to reinstall bf2 to fix :)

                hope that answers youre q's
