Commander artry kills while in vehicles

Sorry if this had been covered before, but after a few searches I found nothing relevant...

I recently recieved by Armour Specialist ribbon, while being a commander in the back of an APC while another team mates drove it. However I am 99% sure I hadn't got the 22 kills with an armoured vehicle in that round, which is required to get the badge.

I am just wondering if it is possible to achieve the vehicle bases ribbons (Heli / Jet etc.) by sitting in non active vehicles (in the non-driver seats) and arty'ing poeple? Anyone else shared a similar experience? This may be an easy way out for the ground pounders to get the air based badges/ribbons.

Well im pretty sure that if you get arty kills as say a medic, then you get those kills added to your medic score. So in theory, I would assume that it counts in vehicles

No it's only for vehicles. I got my expert spec ops by sitting in an AA and killing people with arty. But that's about the only experience I've had with that. If arty counted as kills if you were just prone on the ground with a kit, I'm sure many people would have over 100,000 kills.

Yes. Arty kills count as kills for everything except score.
I got my airdefence ribbon while commanding and sitting in the midships point defence turret on the Essex back in 1.03.

I thought they'd patched this out, but is seems they haven't.

I have received class combat badges sitting in a TOW using artillery.

Was kind of surprising... I fired the artillery, dropped out of command view, fired the tow, guided it to the target, missed, waited for it to reload, got the badge.
