was the bug the boundries? they needed removing tbh

The bug was the US Carrier being cappable, along with a few other fixes. I think the engagement area is big enough for dogfighting, don't want it too big....

nice game when its not laggin out,
brilliant idea for a map an jet combat.
very one sided towards the jets choppers are just easy prey,
real bad spawn points as puttin you in the chopper as a spawn point(sitting duck for jets as they base attack.
admins are a little mardy .
cant para on own carrier to get a fresh jet.

I was doing some things on the server box and uploading the demo, Dogfight Day we will shutdown everything else on the box except for the game server.

This is a jet combat map, those choppers are just extra. You get to choose whether you spawn in a jet or chopper.

I had to warn/kick some ppl because they were attacking the carriers. This is a dogfighting map, so spawn camping/attacking Carriers is a definite no-no. We will have more admins on Dogfight Day.

No parachutes because real pilots should go down with their jets :)

P.S. I don't know if it was just me or what but one of the planes, 'sometimes' when I spawn and take off it's very jurky, shaky, it vibrates a lot, even when trying to fly straight, and not colding the joystick, the plane just vibrates, don't know if it's just me or not.

But other than that, great stuff! :) - I didn't even lag at 100+ ping!

I have had the complaint about vibrating planes, honestly just grab another plane if you are having that problem. We've looked at the mapfiles and couldn't figure out what's wrong.

Wonderfull idea and map.
I just noticed that the drawing distance (viewing distance) was not much and you could not see some of the jets until you get really close to them.

I also do not like the idea of joining teamspeak. I think the ingame VOIP is more than enough.

Since you guys were working on kind of a new map then it would have probably been better if you also made the boundries larger.

Anyway, excellent work. I think the most important missing component in bf2 is air only map. Hopefully this one will get popular.

Edit:

I just tried the map online and honestly it seems to be a huge mess. a lot of players in a small map for the number of jets. a lot of noobs killing by collisions and people who do not know even how to take off (more teamkills).

I just wish guys that make this great effort even better:

-make the disatnce between the carriers larger.
-make the map larger.

make it easier to tell who is an enemy and who is a friendly: different colors of jets for each team. for example the US can be blue and green. china can be red and yellow... or something like that.

With the current status the map it is not really that fun.

i suggest you add a custom USS essex gun with instant hit missile and heak seeking bullets, and have a couple of people man it.

Ducky thank you for your feedback, those are all good ideas. We will definitely take them into consideration for the next version of the map, or make a completely new map :) We have been through so many versions of the map.... after every playtest someone would find a bug or think of better ideas. We will go with the current map as is until Dogfight Day.

Joining teamspeak is just to intreact with other players, also helps us keep track of who's on and can be contacted for prizes. We will probably post the server info in our forums too.

Spawning in a random plane just adds some variety to it, so hopefully ppl won't be flying the same plane all the time. But you can still hop out of the plane you spawned in and grab another one.

Also on Dogfight Day if we get too many ppl we'll split it to more than 1 server, maybe 2 or 3. If it gets more than 15v15 it gets way too messy.... 40-50jets might be fun to do it for a while but it's not exactly dogfighting anymore =P

We thought maybe just putting the admins on the Essex, but we don't want players hogging the Essex since the stats will be tracked. Only way to get kills is with an aircraft.
