Quick Question Bout Load

Okay ... When I started bf2 a couple months ago, the login in time took about 2 minutes ... by login in time, just to be clear, I mean the time from when you select which account you want to use and click login in until you actual get to the server selection screen. I used to stare at the stupid red revolving "2" for about 2 minutes .. but that for whatever reason has turned in to literally 10-12 minutes EVERYTIME. Ive searched these forums so I guess no one else has posted about this so I think it might have something to do with my messed up internet... I use a router and Ive been having problems for quite a while but I also thought it might have something to do with the last 2 patches .... so .... ANYONE KNOW WHAT UP?

i also have noticed the longer wait time from what i have herd its just that there are more people playing now and with the servers haveing to update your stats and stuff like that especially if you log in during peak times it will take a while for it to properly get your info so i ussually start the login then go have a smoke or something and when i come back presto i am on

Lol .... I usually have a showerr .... get somethin to eat ... brush my teeth .... lift weights ...... say hi to the neighbor .... and play DDR :p .... No but I think its just funny that I have to go have a bowl of cereal ... or soemthing else to keep me busy while i wait for a game to load .... EA needs to put money into their damn servers ... ffs wheres all that Euroforce / SF money go? Oh well ... I guess its what i should expect from them

it can be a couple of things: I have noticed that I cant Alt+tab during this time, which would represent a hardware "issue" but I am almost sure it is not.
My best guesses are these two things:
1. EA and their servers are packed full of players logging in, off, or just playing. Their servers may suck or they may be just overloaded. Who knows, but it is true that A LOT of people play bf2. sometimes my wait is 6 seconds, other times 40, sometimes 3 minutes. Who knows.
2. Your internet has a problem, though the only problem you internet could have is being slow. So make sure it is not slow currently and revert back to #1.

I had this problem too and it was so gay. Then I noticed that my Mcafee had gamespy set to ask for access to internet. Therefore whenever I would try to log on it took forever. I changed it to allow full access and never had any problem with it again. It takes like a few seconds now.

also, nvidia firewall (if you can even get it to run without BSOD) messes with games too.

Something interesting to note: It seems that as your account grows, so does the time needed to log in. Just for fun I started a new account the other night. I logged in in no time.

I heard somewhere if you remove the majority of your "favorite" servers listed, it may help the load times.

Yea i heard that also.... i used to wait that long also but i found out it was because i was clicking the shortcut that says "Play Battlefield 2 Online Now" and it took like 2 min to load on the account then someone told be to click the other one and now it only takes like 10 sec to log on

A lot of things that may help gusy, thx. I use a wireless router that has a "Very good" signal so its not like its slow or anything. I also have digital cable internet ... FAST. Though at times I have problems with establishing a connection, once I get it to work, it can stay online for months. The next thing that the favorites might affect it, Im not sure, I have like 2-3 favorites on ... not very many but I can maybe delete. I also have a ****ty firewall (Windows Xp) built in that I use ... Its just awful but I dont know where to get a good free firewall, maybe sum1 can help. I bet its that problem that one guy had, ask before letting gamespy use the internet ... I just cant change it a.t.m. Im pretty sure its not the bf2 server load because thats just massive. NOW HERES ANOTHER QUESTION: Is the ANY way to stop a map from automatically loading each time you log in? That is just lag waiting to happen. Thx again for replies

i heard a theory earlier on this forum.

it said the time to login is directly related to the number of favorite servers in your favorite list.

my login time was about 30 seconds, as opposed to the instant login from patch 1.03.

i took out all of the favorite servers that were red and shut down, and now i login in 4 seconds every time.

delete all shut down servers on your favorite list, it will fix your login problems. it has nothing to do with how many points you have, simply how many favorites.

i currently have about 20 or so favorites and my login time is 5 seconds every time. i also have about 20 white servers in my favorites list, ones that are not favorites but simply often played servers.

and obviously dont hit play now, youll be sitting there forever. everyone knows that!
