BF2 Connection Lag when internet upgraded

Hi a few days ago my broadband connection was upgraded frm 1mbit ADSL to 2mbit (both 128k upload). When i had 1mbit bf2 would run fine multiplayer with consistent ping of about 60 in games. Now when ive upgraded to 2mbit, ive begun to get connection lag hard, with latency up to 800 and staying in that range. the multiplayer bit of bf2 has become unplayable. Ive reinstalled the game, it brought down the ping to about 300, but still spikes up higher and is impossible to play. Ive disabled firewall, antivirus, shutdown ALL programs when playing, scanned for viruses, adware etc.. None of this helps. Please help me, i want to play bf2 again! btw all other games work fine on my old and new connection, with the proper ping of 50. I also download at 270kpbs so its only bf2 that has a prob with my connection

Does this happen onmultiple servers? Ifso then grab the IP of a server you are having issues with then run a tracert to see where you are dropping packets/

ok ill try that, it does happen on any server i play on, and now its happening to my call of duty 2 multiplayer!

k i just pinged a server in that tracert thing, (one that i was jst playing on getting about 400+ ping :S) , it was a local server) and the results were this:

Call your ISP, and illustrate the problem you're having. They'll be able to look at your data transfer while you are gaming, and will probably resolve the issue for you.

lol nup im in nz on slingshot, ive been in contact with customer support but their been stupid and not listening. They tell me to tracert game servers and post results (i get my proper ping of around 60 but i lag 400+ in game) ive told them this, but they say "your connection speed is correct and working fine" argh what do i do

Your problem is New Zealand broadband - it's one of the worst in the 'developed' world. Telecom is a monopoly and you get terrible quality service, over-swamped exchanges - terrible contention ratios meaning your pings will be bad at peak times (5pm - midnight) a bit better off-peak.

The NZ goverment should be stepping in soon to force telecom to start supplying a half decent broadband service!

yeah nz broadband is terrible, i hate telecom. But its just that before I upgraded to 2mbit, i was getting much better ping on a slower plan, 1mbit. I find it really weird that I lag hardout now that I have a faster plan??
