    Installing Patch 1.21

Hi guys, I just got this game this morning and after playing a little single player, I decided I wanted to try multiplayer. I was told I need to update so I went to the EA site and downloaded Patch 1.21. I ran it but it was EXTREMELY slow, it got hung up on 9% overall and then I exited and tried again but it wouldn't work and then the game wouldn't work so I ended up uninstalling the game. My question is how long should it take for the patch to install? Also, is there a specific folder I should save the patch to and then install it in there? One last thing, is there an Update Game selection in the Start Menu -> Programs -> EA GAMES -> Battlefield 2 folder? Or can you only update by downloading the patch off the internet Any help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: My account that I have to make with gamespy, is the account name the ingame user name as well?

    Re: Installing Patch 1.21

The account name you have with Gamespy will be your ingame name yes, so make sure you create one with the exact name you want, you cannot change it so make sure you do not attach any tags, you can add those as a prefix later on.

Regarding your patching situation: You can either use the menu link for patching or download the 1.21 full client from EA or an affiliate site such as ours.
Once downloadedyou can run it from anywhere, your desktop is fine.

I had the same exact problem. The best way to let the patch install, is just run it... go do something for an hour, and come back. I also noticed it gets real hung up on the default BF2 objects list (which is where the 9 % mark is) I think once it finishes installing that, it should go back to a steady speed. This happens frequently with EA patches. Hope this helps
