Upgraded Graphics and Sound Card... FPS still lower than it ought to be

    - Pentium 4 2.53
    - 2GB Corsair XMS PC3200
    - BFG GeForce 7800 GS OC (AGP)
    - Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic

At best I get 70ish FPS, and at worst I get about 20-30 during heavy, heavy loads. My friend swears I should be getting higher FPS numbers.

I opened my AGP Aperture to 256 MB and disabled the paging file to keep more processing in the RAM.

    Any other tips?

Same thing happened to me when I went from 9800 pro to X850XT PE. Never did find out why. Check power supply and check motherboard drivers. Go to motherboard maker's website and look for latest bios, agp drivers, and chipset drivers. Power supply should be 550 watts to be on safe side.

              I only have a 450W supply. It's currently powering:

              - MOBO + onboard stuff (like RAM)
              - 1x HD
              - 1x CDROM
              - 1x 7800 GS OC AGP card
              - 5x case fans
              - 1x CPU fan
              - 1x SB X-Fi XtremeMusic card

Is there a risk of underpowering my stuff? Is there software that can monitor such a thing?

no. your FPS are fine. I have an SLi system and I get 30fps in intense situations. Its not uncommon. 70fps is very good, and even 50fps AVERAGE is good too. I mean, just because your FPS is lower than 40 in bf2 and you paid 400$ for a graphics card doesnt mean anything. the game is a hog. i mean, if you get 20-30 CONSTANTLY, than that is a problem. but 70fps and 20-30 in huge loads is fine. there is nothing wrong.

I'm assuming you're playing on all high and 1280x1024?

That is about the fps you should be getting

No, a lot of them are off or on low.

I just disabled my onboard mobo audio and NIC and it has added about 20 fps :)

Turns out that, after I flashed my BIOS, it reset all of settings. Duh.
