Quick question requires a quick answer: no

Unless the memory modules can be dumbed down, which most of the "good" stuff isn't, it may not run it properly.

I have however done it (lower your DRAM timings from DDR400 to DDr333)

    PEACE

you can use higher rated memory on a motherboard that supports lower rated memory... most of the time. The memory would just run at a lower clock speed.

Ahahaha love it when people like yourself who don't know completely 100% but still post..

Anyways yes you could use a PC3200 stick in a PC2700 slot, but it won't run as fast as 3200, it will run at the speed a 2700 stick runs.

Yes, you can run 3200 on a 2700.

My comp runs that way right now. I have a 2500+ running with pc3200. I have my 2500 overclocked to 2800 specs, which makes my ram run at 3200.

It will work, I run PC4200 (if I remember correctly) on a PC3200 board, no problems.

                    Yes it will work.
That is why the sell ddr500 and such so that it makes it easier to overclock you system, the ram will most likely not be the weakest link, so you dont have to use a divider.

Yes you can, but at the speed of the motherboard therefore faster ram would be usless till you change that mobo.

depends on the mainboard technically it should just slow down the ram to pc2700. But a lot of mainboards won't work at all unless its the correct speed my servers intel mainboard won't fire up with pc3200 for instance.
