sf runs like crap

Ever since i got my x-fi, special forces runs like crap. It did not run that great before but now it seems worse. Bf2 vanilla and EF run with great fps with EAX, ultra sound, and x-fi enabled but i think spec forces got worse.


What kind of pc is required to play sf with at least 50fps? I tend to get dips to 30-27 alot in indoors areas although yesterday, on a 64 player ghost town, my fps went down the drain

Not sure what the problem is. I've got 1gb 400mhz ram, p4 3.0 prescott, audigy 2zs, and an x800xt.

Settings are medium except low terrain, high textures, high geometries (turn OFF dynamic lights and dynamic shadows) with 2x AA.

My frames run 45-70.

well you don't play at 1280x1024 all high settings, 4xAA and max af do you? I play at this setting and don't really want to sacrifice image quality because i should not have to with my setup

It runs flawlessly on my PC at 1280x1024x32 everything on high (dynamic light on medium) w/ 2x aa, but when I turn off 2xaa it runs like **** for some reason.

any1 play it at all high 4xAA and 8xAF, all high? Like i said i don't want to drop anything to medium or low.

the PING can screw your FPS but I think you would be smart enough to know not to go into high ping servers. I agree that setup is very good and you should not have to sacrifice your high settings. SF tends to have lower frames because of all the clutter. I dont know if your X-Fi would be doing anything to the FPS but maybe you should use Driver Cleaner Pro and then re-install drivers for Soundblaster and nVidia... Just a suggestion though.

I know you don't want to lower your detail but turn dynamic lighting and shadows completely off. SF seems to have a problem with these and they just tax resources. Once they are off you should be good.

I don't get any lag in SF at all "except" for 1 thing and its major for me. The damn heli pilot seat slide show lag. Whenever I hop in the pilot seat FPS just goes all over the place, like radically up and down ever second or so. I have tried every tweak possible to fix it but nothing works. Its unplayable and Surge is by far the worst.

SF is the biggest pc of **** ive ever seen . I have messed w/ all mt setting and always get lag .

Havent played it in months ....... its my beer coaster .

I agree. Recently since the 1.21 patch I have been laggin alot more on SF. Thats why I am taking a break to play regular BF until EA and Dice get off their greedy ass and fixed it.

I get good fps in vanilla, and last I checked I still get good fps in SF. on tuesday if I remember I will try it out for sure and let you know. I have so many games I havent had much time for SF.
