New computer, manual GONE... oh no...

I'm currently working away from home for a prolonged period, and i'm getting a new laptop today ( yay :) )

Now, my problem is, i have the BF2 cd with me, and the cover... but the manual/booklet thingy which has my CD-key on the back (if i remember correctly) is not in the case. Is the ANY way i can retrieve my BF2 key from my current installation? Otherwise i'll be forced to buy a new copy of the bloody thing to play it on the new PC... and we wouldn't want that now would we :hmm:

Any help would we appreciated, thanks id advance

The registry key shhould have it i believe. but you would have to have access to the computer with bf2 installed

I've got acces right here, the thing is that this comuter, my current workstation(with BF2 installed) is on it's last legs. And TBH it doesn't run BF2 very well. So the new PC arrives today and i'd like to get a little BF2 in through the weekend on it.

My apartment is locked at home (250km away) so that's not an option. Can the key be pulled from the registry? Though i have looked i didn't find anything, thought there is an encrypted line in there, could that be it?

The actual game key has been encrypted since the first patch (I think), but you could try exporting the BF" registry key from the old computer and importing it in the new computer. This should let you play, but not sure how to get around the setup when it askes you for the key

I know of 2 programs that will allow you to retrieve or change your key.

Not sure if I'm allowed to post or not though

Well, Dell's freightcompany in Ireland managed to **** it up. So it wont be here till Tuesday anyways, but thanks for the help. Looks as though copying the encrytped code could work. The apps made for fetching out your key more or less do the same as copy/pasting it yourself after it's been encrypted. But thanks for the help everyone

mads, quick and easy way to get your cd- key. Go to ea games technical support number: 08702432435 and have your cd handy. When you get through they'll ask you for the number on the cd, just read that off and they'll give you a cd key.

np, glad i could help. Guys should keep it simple and stop fannying about with encryption when all it takes is a 1 min phone call.
