The concept seems good, the idea of people fighting for the land was a great story idea, but I can't help but feel that this new battlefield is going to be a rehash of bf2.
It looks pretty, everything is shiny, and the mechs look pretty badass, but doesn't every promotional video look like that? How many of you saw the video for bf2, bought it and honestly believed that you would get the same graphics on your comp? Here's one problem about the graphics, not everyone has a Megatron of a computer like EA does, and if you're one fortunate few who actually get graphics like the promo videos, consider yourself one lucky bastard.
What new concepts are going to be implemented? bf2 brought us the commander mode and squads and what not, but what about this? Stealth and mechs? Can you say whoring?
Remember battlefield: vietnam? I would be surprised if you do, because nobody does now that bf2 is out. Will we remember bf2 when bf2142 comes out? Is the ENTIRE community going to buy it and get rid of bf2, which is already a pretty damn good game?
Do you guys remember all the great mods for bf1942? the star wars mod, the transformers mod, and all the rest. Well it seems that a bunch of mods were coming out for bf2, but now that this new battlefield is coming out, everyone will switch over and no one will download the mods because bf2 will become outdated. Its been only one year and so and EA is already trying to kill the modding community. And by the way, someone can probably make a mod for bf2 close to bf2142
One word. Bugs. Not that I'm ****ed off about it but EA/DICE has a history of having a gazillion bugs in the battlefield franchise. They haven't finished bf2yet, and now they're already making another game?
bf2142 will break the tradition of the bf franchise. BF was always about modern warfare, real warfare. It has always been very believable, but now its going to be like Tribes with a big map and more people.
bf2 is already a damn good game. I want my moneys worth dammit, and now theyve decided to make me pay more to play what is probably going to be the same game with different models.
So yeah. Thats my two cents. I'll probably end up buying bf2142 later in the future, but I really don't want to. bf2 is good already dammit! I want to keep playing that instead. No new models or mechs, maybe a new map once in a while, new weapons to keep us interested.
Look how long counterstrike has been around. Its not because they threw in rocket packs and stealth mode, but because its community, and the company behind it put tremendous support into it. It used to be a small little mod, but because the company supported the game, you can find it on almost every computer. With EA/DICE, its rehash with new models, sell for $50, and repeat and honestly, its a little tiring after two freaking sequels, four expansion packs and two booster packs. I love bf2, and I would pick it over any game out there. Its community is great, there are no l33tspeaking assholes, the squad concept has lead to some intense tactical moments, and there really is no game like it. But EA isn't letting it live out its shelf life, there has been half assed support from its company, and if they would stop making us buy sequels of it, they might realize they have a good game on their hands
Thoughts?
