How do I correct for targets more then 300m with the sniperrifle?

Ok, looking through the scope you see a target at about 300-350m(you can see up to 450m I think, but I don't try to hit anything at that range). I mostly use the AWP (L96A1) or the M95 in SF. When I have my crosshairs on my target at anything passed 300m and I fire only 1 out of so many shoots actually hit. Is there a way someone has found to correct or judge your target better? Did someone find out the bullet drop? Just to let you know these are most of the time still targets, other snipers, campers or commanders, so they are not moving.

Bullet drop has been proven, a topic was posted on these forums. I'm not sure how to accurately judge long distance shots though.

Bullet drop with the L96 is almost nonexistant,so dont worry too much about that one, all you have to do is aim a little bit over their heads.

However the M95 bullets drop faster than an elephant without a parachute, so you have to aim somewhere like an inch above their heads sometimes. With the M95 you just gotta practice, thats all I can tell you.

The L96A1 is not an arctic warfare police magnum. In BF2, bullets are somewhat like projectiles. But for some reason when you shoot a bullet straight up, it doesn't come down.

just aim a bit higher...if you take a shot, and it doesnt seem to hit, aim a bit higher, take another shot..still no hit, maybe a little higher. you will get the hang of it eventually.

I have found that with the L96, just put the crosshair just above his head...it seems to work 90% of the time...you might not get first shot kill, but another shot or two and he will probably drop.

It's so minor of adjustment it's almost pointless. It's about a milimeter above the target.

I still question that whole bullet drop thing though. I've dropped people that were hazy dots without adjusting for anything.

Actually I find that both the M95/L96A1 drop a similar amount.

To the original poster, practise makes perfect. It's really a matter of trial and error, to get the 'feel' of the weapon and it's bulletdrop.

But as a rough guide, if you want a headshot at 350m (only do this on stationary targets or you are wasting your ammo) try aiming about half a body height above the target. So about 3ft/90cm above the enemy.

I headshotted a prone sniper from across the bay on Wake last night, with my first shot as well! Must've been a 350m shot at least, I was so rapt, normally I can nail standing people at 350m because I can better judge the bulletdrop by using my 'half body height' rule but on prone targets you really have to estimate and guess the amount of bulletdrop.

Like I said, practise a bit, eventually through trial and error you will make those long range headshots more consistently. Good luck.

I'd like to see a game that has really good physics. More details, destructable stuff, and real projectiles. It was fun to first play a game like Red Faction. When you shot walls, pieces actually came off. That game is 5 years old or so.

OK, there is bullet drop, and the only way to judge how high to aim, is through practice in-game at judging distances. And yea, red faction rocks, but to put all that on a computer would be a big strain on memory.

Oh come on they put Red Faction on a DVD disc. It played off the DVD on the Playstation 2.

I stick with the M24, and when people are almost out of my vision range i just put the cross hairs right above their head and it hits them everytime.

How do you judge distance? is there a button that turns on range????

there's no way to judge distance unless he's standing next to a flag.

If you can't the numbers or little flag icons above the flag, then press the left alt button.

Yeah, I use the flags to judge distance and most of the time when I target long range players its either Wake or Kubra.

Kubra is the only places with action spread out so you can take your time setting up and finding a quiet place. Sharqi I get high number of kills as a sniper, but I'd consider that more close to medium ranges, same with Warlord. Ghost is all close not to much fun, die way to often as a sniper. I actually switched to the PKM on Ghost to snipe with. Mash can be fun also, especially if the fighting is between the Hill and the Gas Station by the arti. I don't play much of the other maps, mostly do to popularity in my clan and havn't gotten to know the new EF maps to well yet.

ok, confirmed it, its .5mm for 250m, 1mm for 300-350m and so on...(respective for size of monitor and res) Still had a hard time hitting one sniper, but he had the same problem with me at one point someone else became commander and he stopped supporting the snipers in the hills.

                              Cool, thanx good to know!
