Things I may actually enjoy from BF2142

As the subject states, here's a little list of things I may actually come to enjoy with Battlefield 2142:

    - EMP grenades will be a nasty threat for the MECH walkers, making squad tactics that much more interesting. I can see some pretty hefty battles with this

    - Chaser anti-tank; That would just be fun to watch. Play a nasty trick to those that claim they are the best at driving a tank/mech...It'd be interesting to see someone trying to run away from one! I predict some good fan flics with this trap

    - The hoverships aren't too far-fetched, so that will just be cool to fly. I'm a big fan of flying, so this will definitely be the things I will be looking forward to most

    - No more halo jumps from what the article reads, it'll be interesting to see how they pull off people wanting to jump from a building fleeing attack...

    - The buddylist feature will be interesting, but for someone like me: I just run a Vent server with a couple friends I already know and play with. I wish they would have released it for BF2, but sadly they never. Maybe a future patch

    - Chuck Norris as a playable character: Now, I know I know, it doesn't say anywhere that this will happen, but given the hype he's been getting lately, and considering the fact that he IS the future, I hope it is one of those "easter egg surprises" you see so often in videogames. He would dominate everything with his roundhouse kicks though, so I can see that being an unbalance.

So, as often as I'll continue saying it, everything to date is speculation. We can only hope those that do want something new to try, not necessarily replace, BF 2142 will be what we are looking for. Those who could care less about the game or don't want to voice their opinion in a shameless manner, there is no need for you to post.

Not to mention the radical change in gameplay that will happen from one patch to another. I sure hope they are working on their first patch too. The game looks nice, but I'm just not into the future nerd-geek Star Trek future thing. Mech Warrior was an awesome game, but I doubt this will come close.

Well, as a nerd Star Trek is much farther in the future (by about 200yrs) than this game claims to be. MechWarrior was a great series, and I think BF will rekindle the feeling you got when you could twist your joystick and aim all the while running straight ahead. I like the idea of being able to jump out, that in itself will be a great feeling, to walk up to a MECH, jump in, walk out again and play as infantry.

I think the squad gameplay component will stay the same as with BF2; some will be useful, others will be idiots. You cannot stray from that fact, especially considering you are playing a game with approximately 100,000 other people. :)

Hehe... man, you really gotta watch the geek/nerd cracks when you're posting on a game forum.

I think that action is part of the definition of geek (which I don't consiter an insult).

BF2142 will hopefully not be overly sci-fi and more realistic with maybe something similar to the quake wars armies. If it is really farfetched and stuff that'll just be cheesy.

I didn't see any death rays or beam weapons in the vid. That's a plus.

Something I really look farward to is less complaining about "realism".
I'm sure even having a sci-fi setting won't stop some people from crying about how unrealistic it is that sniper rifles aren't one shot kill weapons tho.
                :p

Well i don't think it should be super realistic but not way out there.

Agreed. The setting does make up for a lot of excuses to just implement good mechanics tho.
