I'm not a fan of shooting robots or future warware kinds of FPS games.
Maybe i'll play something Sim-xxx sort of thing if they make it.

i would think people would be hesitant to buy the game if EA does what it does to BF2.
i mean, im in no way putting down the new game, in fact i reckon it might be great, but if they bring out patches that always make the game worse and wose, whos going to buy it?
its all a matter of consumer confidence, and from here, well i can say that confidence is pretty darn low

BF2142 :

- add broken game engine everyone's already ****ed about.
- throw new 'futuristic' textures on it
- rename it
- make everyone start from scratch on rank so it feels REAL new

hands down, game rushed.... most pc's freak out about running SF, what makes you think that lasers shooting everywhere and big robots running around is going to be any different?

Maybe they're aiming to attract completely new gamers rather than the existing hardcore BF fans amoung us?

Cause otherwise I can't see why they'd do the opposite of what the community said it wants in the next BF game (according to the poll on BF2's site anyway) and release a mod of a game which is still not 100% completed. They did indeed loose a lot of confidence with the bad patches and also the lacklustre SF and EF expansions/boosters, making the community even more sceptical of this upcoming release. I would be very interested to know how many people paid for SF and EF. Or maybe there a lot of people out there who buy a battlefield title just cause of the name? I thought gamers were a bit more discerning than that.

Time's gonna tell on this one, but BF2142 would have to be an exceptional title to get my money. And sadly given the track record of late I highly doubt it, the same game with a different setting and skins just doesn't appeal to me enough.
