  • Yearly Battlefield game

Who else would like to see Battlefield turn into a yearly franchise like EA Sports? Maybe add some rap music and all the soldiers get Cingular phones for communication. That would be totally sweet. Imagine being able to pay $50 every year for slightly improved graphics and maybe some bug fixes. Who thinks this would be awesome?

i don't know about the music & cingular phones hahahaha.
however i DO love the idea of Bf2 becoming a stable thing, and i know that i'd definetly pay $50 a year for new content/fixes/goodies...

adding stats to the game has truely made it more addictive... and it's kind of a shame to think that in 8 months the accounts will be worthless and we'll all start a new in bf2142 ( if we play it). is it just me or do just the BAD posts end up in DICE's hands? let's have a conference! = D

and ok, add music to the game, but make it a feature you can disable or maybe use your own play list.. bf2 + pig destroyer = mmmmm

Yeah I don't like the sound of an "EA-Update" eg 2142 coming, and I bet there will still be ranting and patches coming out for BF2 when 2142 is released!

I guess if they actually finish the game it won't be so bad

I dunno, they'd run out of ideas pretty quick. I think its probably a shame that they have pulled staff off BF2 development to start work on BF2142 so soon, i mean the games been out 7 or 8 months now and there is still a lot of potential there, as i see it. But yeh,, like i said a new BF each year would be pretty shortlived, because where else can they go from 2142? its been discussed several times before, theres not many pother viable options. And remember, $50 to the north americans is a shipload more to us poor aussies lol

(on a side note, i just wanna clarify that we prefer to be called "ozzies" than "ossies", the pronounciation "Ossies" causes a laugh here!)

                  Back to topic!!!

                    Re: Yearly Battlefield game

I got a feeling the mod community is gonna make out even better after 2142 comes out. Think about it.... Old customers...(primarily us i think, the totalbf2 folks) will want to continue playing this game. Mods will draw us in.
New customers who buy 2142 will learn, that ...hey there are mods that focus on current stuff, and come to us.
I think bf2 will grow, or rather mods will now become very important, where before this information came out...they werent all that important. Nice, just not all that important. Plus it will grow.
Now, if a server company would implement a ranking system like bf2's current one, they would rock with the mods.
For instance ECGN makes an inhouse ranking system for 2 or 3 popular mods. ECGN would probally rent out 30-60 more servers because of this. It would be good biznis for them to do this. Course what do i know. I cant even spell correctly.

BF could really do good as a war sim... they should give it a shot, for ****s and giggles.

The current maps are actually pretty big. We just drive/fly around so damn fast we don't notice all of the details.

Try walking through a map once, you'll see what I mean.
