Okay, here's my situation. Every time Wake Island was loaded, it would kick me from the server because i had modified content. So, to fix this problem i reinstalled everything, the game, special forces, and all of the patches starting with 1.02 up to now. Now, when I click on the BF2 icon on my desktop, it goes to a completely black screen, then crashes back to the desktop, just like it did before I installed my new graphic card. I've updated all my drivers and everything and have no idea on what to do. Any suggestions?

Re: Crashes to desktop now!
Delete the icon from your desktop. Go to your C:\Program Files\EA GAMES or whatever it is and right click the BF2 Icon, and select Send to Desktop. If that does not work. You may have to reinstall the game completely and use the 1.21 full patch.

Re: Crashes to desktop now!
That's why I stayed home from school today to do, reinstall the game and patches (only joking, but I still spent loads of time working on it). I first reinstalled and did the full 1.21 patch: didn't work. Then I reinstalled and started with 1.02 and worked up to 1.21: still doesn't work. Tried what you said about going to C:\program files\EA Games... and sending it to the desktop and still doesn't work. Urgh!!! I'm gonna go crazy if I don't get this working!Originally posted by Revoluti0nDelete the icon from your desktop. Re: Crashes to desktop now!
Yea, your computer can definitely run BF2. It doesn't matter if it isn't the best, it works for whatever you need it for, that is all that matters. You can upgrade to a better machine later.
I would recommend downloading the Omega Radeon Drivers for your videocard if you do not already have those installed( www.omegadrivers.net ). Those seem to be the most widely used and most stable for gaming (at least my own experience). Once you have these downloaded uninstall whatever you currently have for videcard drivers and install the omegas.
Try this link:
There are some instructions on the page, read the steps. What this will do is upgrade the software that your motherboard uses to control the way the components of your comp work together,(i.e, motherboard, videocard, ram, harddrive, etc).
Once you do these upgrades, reboot and try again. If it does not work, send an email to EA tech support or search on their forums for some answers. Good Luck guy.Comment

Re: Crashes to desktop now!
Alright, it has to be something with the patches. I reinstalled the game and played it no problem. But when I downloaded patch 1.21, it didn't work. Has this happened to anyone else, where after they downloaded a certain patch, their game would crash to desktop after a full black screen?Comment
