      wireless = half duplex
      cable = full duplex

      Wireless is only just as good to those that are not knowledgeable enough to know the difference

              Easy solution to this mate,

              I had the very same problem and so did me housemate, We were using usb wireless sticks.. Bad idea..

              Went out and bought £9 wireless pci cards and works a treat :p

              No lag whatso ever, you dont need the most flash expensive crap, never had a problem since that day nor has me mate.

              So if you having connections problems and you are using usb wireless, go internal

                On my old PC I used to freeze for 10 seconds everytime a player joined the server. Can you imagine how annoying that can be?

                  Make sure windows xp does not handle the wireless settings. Xp checks for available networks like every 60 sec and pauses your connection for about 2 secs. Use whatever software you adapter came with.

                  Hope this helps

                    It is probably the wireless - wired is better for gaming.

                    However, it might be the modem and not the router. I was having intermittent connection problems and it turned out the modem was on the fritz.

                        Re: The pilots worst enemy.

                        I do not know very much about connection types, but maybe you all can help me out. I currently have DSL, and I average around a 70 - 90 ping. I am very happy with it, but I am looking to switch to Comcast Cable to save money (and dump my phone company completely since I have Vonage).

                        1. Is a wireless router to a cable modem connection a problem for gaming. In other words, is it the same thing everyone is talking about here?

                        2. Are there any security issues I should be worried about having a wireless router in my home? Can people next door use my signal to get on the internet?

                        Thanks

                          1. yes it is the same thing. Setting it up properly is key.

                          2.you can lock it down with wep and mac address filtering. Just read up on it not hard to do at all.

                            about 10% of all of my total s are connection problems...well the connection problems bug. And I have a solid reliable wired connection..

                            Wireless = bad for gaming....well not as good as wired anyways.

                              Re: The pilots worst enemy.

                              Wireless is just fine for gaming. I have been gaming for the past 4 years with a wireless connection on games from, (Dawn of War, Counter Strike, and BF2)
                              I am using a belkin pre-n router which is the best router out there with unbelievable range and coverage. My interent connection is broadband 6mbps. However very little do i get the "connection problem" and it usually occurs when the server crashes. - For all those reading this post and questioning wireless gaming, get the right equipment and there will be no difference.
