    Crash to desktop

Im experiencing a crash to desktop with BF2. here are the details:
I start the game, Play it, Then exit. When I try to play again, the splash screen comes up for about a second, then closes, and i get an error message. the error message looks like this:

It works if i restart, But that is becoming one hell of an inconvenience.
whats going on? ive tried reinstalling, But it still happens!

Could be your ram, I know if you dont have enough it will crash, how much do you have?

not always an issue with amount of ram, but I would say ram could be the culprit. Click on the link to learn more about it, and copy/paste the code into google, you may get some results.

The CTD's are usually related to ram, video cards, drivers. I was having probs with ctd's last week, but I had just relocated to Long Island from Tampa FL, and drove with the comp in the back of the van. I reseated everything, ram, vid card, etc, and blew out everything, and the problem has ceased (for now). Overheating can also lead to ctd's....

Flyboy, try doing a manuel punkbuster update. I had the same prob, did the update and now it only does it once in awhile compared to 6 times in a row and connect the 7th. Crashes seem to be less, but now I get the network connection failure after about 30 minutes or so, I usually reconnect back to the server and all is good. Hope this helps. For the love of pete, don't reformatt or uninstall the game and reinstall, it doesnt matter tried it all, and the pb update is the only thing that has worked for me.

I have 512 megs, But my new case will have 1024 and a 256 meg vid-card.
I'll try the manual update. keep in mind, I dont even get to the intro movie.

            Re: Crash to desktop

I bet it is the ram then cause 512 aint very much. If you still have problems after the punkbuster update, try ending some of the background tasks to free up some ram, and make sure any antivirus programs are off while youre playing. (for info on what background tasks to end and how to, look in your bf2 manual, that came with the game, its explained in there)

            good luck

well i have 1.5 gig ram. its not the ram...my ram test's out good with memtest.
i did driver cleaner...then reboot...then installed an older omega driver i know has worked fine in the past....still get the ctd during geometries. the problem is i am looking for a solution in the wrong place.

                Re: Crash to desktop

Don't bother with video drivers, punkbuster, spyware,..... all the craps.

It is the RAMs. It is not the amount of RAM but type of RAM. If you have any other type of RAMs from different computers, swap them and try.....

Three weeks ago, I put in OCZ Gold XTC 1Gbx2 and had CTDs 31 times in 2 weeks. Later I swapped them with OCZ EL Platinum 1Gbx2, hasn't had CTD even once.

What resolutions are you running? I notice when running 1600x1200, there has been most CTD.
