I keep hearing people complaining about and accusing others of stat padding. And what is stat padding? Its where you keep doing something to try and boost your stats. Well if you think about it we all stat pad. For example, if you are trying to get the basic support combat badge you are going to just keep using the support kit and not any other kit, and people can call this stat padding. Or lets say you are trying to get you veteran kinfe badge, which during the game you just use your knife the whole time, which can be considered stat padding. So all in all this game is really nothing but stat padding if you really think about it.

yes in some ways i agree with you - however its annoying when u work hard for a badge or ribbon - only to see some noobs blatantly statpadding to get badges or ribbons etc

padding is where you exploit the game design to your needs ie
workin as a 2 player group with a friend an nailin some one an keep reviveing them to get points or a friend on the other team damgein the commanders toys an you repairing them,
its totall different from playin as one kit an trying your hardest to get the points you need.
a very fine line between the 2 i think.
an just using one type of kit isnt padding its called being an effective role in the line of combat.
if im trying to get rewards i will just play with that kit until i have got what im lookin for,
does this make me a stat padder NO,because i do it on my own with out any help off any one else.
the padders use other people an exploits to help them get there goal due to the fact that some of the rewards are to hard for them to get alone so they cheat.
rember not every one that plays bf2 has the same skill level as the ones that are high up in the ranks.
i dont agree that padding is right infact i hate it i think it sux big time as all my rewards i have gotten the hard way ON MY OWN :P

Statpadding is not what you described it as. It is using abnormal means to get the awards. IE Using a knife the whole round to get the Knife Badge is not statpadding. Now, using the knife on a player then having your teammate heal him so you can knife him again over and over is statpadding. Use common sense fool.

Yeah, question basically answered. Trying to earn points by playing a particular kit, or using your knife, isnt padding.

Padding is an organized event, usually involving 2 or more players, and depending on the scenario, they may be on same or opposite teams, but usually in TS/Ventrillo together. Ex: mec/usmc guys together, mec stabs US, 2nd US revives, rinse and repeat till each have boosted their stats. Or on the same team - 3 engineers in jeeps park just far enough into the water that the jeeps dont blow up from dmg, but all 3 engys repair and earn points like whoa.

The only thing I call statpadding is glitching and knife revive. The rest is in the game, everyone else can do it. Just maybe not as good as you. The rest of the game is "whoring" not padding.

Now, using the knife on a player then having your teammate heal him so you can knife him again over and over is statpadding. Use common sense fool.

I guess you can think whatever you want, but fact is stat padding has been officially defined by EA and DICE. I find it hard to believe there are still so many people that just don't get it, it's not a difficult concept. It would be like getting in trouble for tax evasion with the IRS and saying "Well, IMO I didn't consider this to be taxable income because I live in a fantasy world where I make all the rules, so I didn't pay taxes on it."

whoring is using the same vehicle, or weapon, and nothing else..statpadding is quite different...i suggest going to bf2rs...and look for the rules of engagement ROE...it describes statpadding very briefly, and also goes into detail about what is, and what is not allowed on ranked servers

fair enough you do get idiots who kill for vechiles then this i would call whoreing.
so many people now see mto call any thing that works good for the player whoreing when in fact there just playin the game with resorce's that are laid out in the game dynamics.
my veiw on it is any one that has to kill to get a vechile is a whore,
we've loads of these in are server an the only way around it was to either kick the players or turn ff off we went with the later option of ff off.

I was in server in on Wake Island, and suddenly these 2 people from this clan kept getting their score up fast, in like 10 mins they had over 200 points, it kept going up in 2's, so tell me is it possible for one of them to shoot and the the other one to throw a ammo bag at them?

that the main part of the game is based in an around gettin points/hrs for each vechile an kit to achieve the rewards ie medals/ribbons/badges an unlocks thats the main idead to bf2 an alot of people have this game due to the rewards an enjoyment out of it.
some of the rewards require hrs in some of these vechiles an when people get seen to be in a vechile all the time so they can get there medal they get called whores.
ive been playing since the game was released an i have only just my VET armour nearly a year on.
so you can see from my point an hrs in tank that im not a whore so its not a one opinon on my behalf.
ive never been able to go a round with dying lol wish i could do that,i even get killed when playing commander at the back lmao :P

that is yes.
but hey on the carrier ship i throw my resupplys every where.
so if the guys are messing about like alot of people do whilest waitin on a black hwak/jet or gun ship to arrive or respawn they through nades or just shoot at any thing.
so who is stat padding out of them the support or the guy just messin about on the ship?
you have to becarefull with ones like that i would call it an exploit on that map but not padding

gee thats funny. i didn't buy the game to get ribbons or awards.

i bought the game to enjoy myself.

i wish there were no awards/ranks/badges/ribbons. maybe just unlocks.
