  • CH Combat stick & pro throttle

Has anyone tried this combo 568 Combatstick & Pro throttle(USB type).

I can get the game to recognize the inputs in the Options menus but they won't work in the game.
I've tried mapped mode and direct mode and neither works in-game.

So, any help here would be appreciated.

Also do a search for battlefield in this forum. Main reason you have trouble with this set up is because Battlefield can only recognize ONE controller..not mutiple controllers.....

Well, I set it up as one controller. So the options/aircraft screen "sees" the inputs and registers them in teh menu.
But, in the game, it fails to work at all.
I d/l'd the base map the guy talked about. We'll see if that works.

That's just it. I did... I've used the combo long enough to know how to program them properly. (Except using the CMC function of it, that just makes my brain hurt.)

When I look in windows controller config, windows only sees one device. When I set it up in BF2, BF2 will accept the buttons and axes in the Options menu, but they won't work in-game.
No other controllers are connected to my PC.

that is your problem...you have to make sure windows sees both controllers before moving on to the ch manager utility...

once thats done, calibrate both devices in the ch manager utility, then program..etc...

Actually I thought that was my original problem is that windows did see two devices, so I combined them to one.

A thought... How many axes and buttons can BF2 handle? I am currently setup as 8-axes and 32-buttons. I don't think the number of buttons os a concern, but what about the axes? Should I lower it to 4?

Not just for BF2.. Also Falcon4, LOMAC, X3, Pacific Fighters, etc.

                          Anyway..

                          To recap my woes:

                          568 Combatstick & Pro throttle
                          Using Control Manager 3.6

Originally had a Nostromo Speedpad n50 plugged in as well. But have unplugged that to remove any controller conflict possibility.

                          First try:
Set up as dual controller (CM devices 1 & 2)
-- Setup as a mapped function device.
-- Options menu wouldn’t “see” either controller.

                          Second try:
Set up as single controller via mapped functions, but just using DirectX functionality
 BF2 would “see” Y-axis of joystick, but not X-axis.
                           BF2 would “see” throttle Z-axis
                           Neither would work in-game.

                          Third try:
Set up as second try, but used “direct” function via control manager.
 BF2 would “see” all axes and buttons via the options/aircraft menu.
 Controller would not work in-game.

                          Things I realize:
1 – BF2 will only “see” one controller device.
2 – I have created at least a dozen different maps for these controllers before without much trouble. Hell, I even got the mini-hat on the throttle to work in Falcon4 on my own. 
3 – Windows only ‘sees’ one controller device.
4 – I deleted the controller.cfg and reset all defaults in BF2 and got same results as third try.

                          Things I’m not sure of:
1 – How many axes & buttons does BF2 “see”? I am set at 8-axes and 32-buttons currently. Will try 4-axes (lowest setting) and 32 then 16-buttons later tonite.
2 – Is there much of a difference between Control Manager 3.6 & 4.0 from CH?
3 – Do I need to set the controller config (in BF2) as the primary set-up instead of the secondary?

And finally, yes… I have read a bunch of threads here and elsewhere (CH-hangar for example) on this setup and BF2. I used a couple of items found but it hasn’t helped completely. They have gotten me to the point of BF2 seeing them in the menu, but not in-game.

make sure you have sensitivity on the all your AXIS (pitch roll, throttle, rudder) to 100....everytime i set it less that 90, battlefield will not register my axis ( this is after it was set up in ch control manager utility).....once you set your axises, then adjust the sensitivity...

i was going crazy once, because i was able to set pitch and rudder, but not roll....

also I have to admit, once I got my set up working, BF2 felt really laggy....

Yeah, I found that too. Very weird that it won't detect unless set to 100%.
It's set at 100% sensitivity and the second input is at 1 (can't remember the name of the second input, but it's at 1. )
