Wake map just got old n stuff, kinda boring playing ont he same map without new maps EA could be releasing for the gaem, but Euro Force came out and I have yet to buy it
heli spam on sharki is annoying for sure.
What sucks about it, is its so easy to counter. Usually when your getting nailed and spamed on by copters on that map.........its because your team is.....i hate to say it..stupid. I mean, one vod, and someone gettin on an AA and that copter is history.
How strong is the copter on that map?
When I command My goal is to keep the enemy copter down. When im successful. The enemy dont do all that well.
And usually loses.
I don't know why people like Wake so much. I hate that map. Equally, I don't know why people think it goes with Karkand. IE Wake/Karkand only servers. Makes no sense. Wake isn't an urban map.
Wake and Karky. Are they similar?
I mean really they are 2 extremely different maps.
However. The root of why some folks might confuse and group these 2 maps together is this:
FUN. ACTION. CONSTANT INTERACTION.
On Wake, you will be constantly in the battle regardless of where you are on that map.(hell bail out in the ocean 20 miles from land. bet a pilot hunts you down and kills you there even) You dont need to go very far from flag to flag.
Karky and Wake, generaly speaking provide for some fairly large scores, regardless what you do in game. Why?
For all the reasons i've said. Which is why Karky folks like Wake. I dont think people like infantry maps solely because they are infantry........ which wake isnt solely infantry, its because of the constant fun, of playing multiplayer. ACTION.
Again. I want to spawn, And kill. I dont want to go out on some 8 minute journey in the hopes of killing something. And I think 99% of the gaming community thinks the same.
Just let me spawn. And kill. Bigger, spread out maps simply do not provide this kind of fun.
Wake, i dont care who you are, and what you like to do. You can do it on wake, and get rich in points. Its a battle. Its tough. Its war.
Karky. Same thing. Firefight city.
So:
Big points.
Big Fun.
No need to travel looking for a fight. Its always right there.
Flag flow, always seems to be a constant slugfest for either team to advance...when down.
argh Did i just write a book?
Thanks for your imput guys it is definatly helping out. What if we put in some 32 player maps such as kharkand on our 64 man server. Would that increase the action enough to justify it to be in the map rotation?
I used to hate the 64 version of Karky....but lately a server i play on, has the 64 version, with 32 players. After a few rounds, I now think its a nice choice. And really i see it come down to one side completely owning another side;'s flags.
I will tell you this, I have seen JAM PACKED servers, that where the admins of those servers, started to enjoy flying. So they started running the bigger maps, on thier 32 player server so they could fly. Problem is, after about 2 weeks, now, this peticular server which was packed 24/7 is now fairly empty any time. Even on busy friday and sat. nights. I know there are pilots here that will disagree with me, but...
Air, especially planes, not so much choppers, suck the life out of fun maps. And really when you figure how many people HAVE to fly to have fun, versus everyone else, Its not worth catering to them. It'll hurt your server numbers. I've seen it happen time and time again.
But, thats just what I have seen with my own eyes.

generally speaking, only a few maps in battlefield two that has flags close to each other enough so it will actually be providing constant action, wake is one of them, karkand is another one, as well as sharqi and masturr.
more people vote please, and it would be nice if people can supply me MORE wake&karkand only server with 32-64 people.
What is the big deal about Wake? Oman is an awesome map, along with Kurba Dam and Fushe Pass. Fushe can have all classes in it and be effective...that is cool.
why is karkand singled as "best inf map" when sharqi far surpasses it?
1. Personally, a lot of areas in sharqi are dark for me. If it's dark for everyone, then it would be fair, but many exploit by gaining the ability to see in the dark by turning lightning down. getting shot while i cannot see? Not fun.
2. Helicopter whoring? It's not something I favor.
3. DIffcult to transverse terrain and lack of cover.
Wake may not be "urban" combat, but it has the potential to be much more intense than even karkand. People like urban combat for mainly two reasons i think: One is the atmosphere of fighting in the city streets. The other is the intensity. While Wake may not have the city streets going, it is extremely intense as it's basicaly a curved strip of land. There is less opportunity for flanking and IMO, no map is better for a "front-lines" experience. Quite often a front develops somwhere on the island that makes for some intense and memorable firefights. Other maps flanking is far to easy for such a setup to be established. No other map offers such a stong possibility for a dynamic front (in other words, not like the situation when one team is down to one flag) and that really adds a lot to the experience.
