Graphics issues

Not sure whats going on here but maybe someone can help. Updated to 1.21 when it came out and played it for a few days without issue. Haven't played BF2 in 2-3 days and go to start it up and am having some serious issues (see screencaps). Not sure whats going on tried reinstalling BF2, SF and all patches, updating ati 9800 video drivers and still the same. The game will start out fine and then usually within a minute the textures get all messed up and I can't see in front of me, buildings get all distorted and wierd looking. Tried playing some DOD tonight to see if it was maybe graphics card related and that played fine. Lowered all of the video settings in BF@ and it's still the same. Tried doing a system restore back a couple of days when I installed something for my digital camera but for some reason system restore keeps popping up with an error.

i belvie that is a artifact or driver problem. ive seen it before but I do not know the exact solution. check your temps, maybe roll back a driver? maybe someone else can help way more.

Yeah definitly something going on with the graphics card. Tried using the ATI tool to scan for artifacts and it started bugging out after about a minute doing the same thing I get in game. I'll have to play around some more after work tomorrow.

That would happen to me all the time when i would ALT+Tab the game. I dont do that anymore and it hasent reoccured.

But re-reading your statements, it dosent seem to be the issue. Have you tried reinstalling BF2 yet?

I had the same problem. I did a few things:

1) opened the case and blew things out with a can of compressed air

2) used the ATI driver removal tool on the ati website to uninstall old drivers

3) reinstalled drivers

Also, I haven't noticed these artifacts since installing the ATI 6.x drivers; 5.13 was the last time I saw them.

Well it looks like the video card was shot, the fan was no longer spinning and I couldn't even startup windows without there being artifacts all over the place. I replaced it with a cheap card, the x1300, and everything is working again. Really didn't want to buy a new card but my next planned computer overhaul isn't until christmas so I need something to get me by until then. Thanks for the replys.
