I don't have any guns but that's cause my p*nis is big enough.

I do have a couple of racing bikes and a nice car so I guess Frued would have something to say about that.

Mind you I'm lucky that I don't live in a f*cked up country where it's dangerous to go shopping or I'm paranoid when I go to sleep at night.

Oh yeah...and I don't have a wierd perverse fetish about equipment that is designed to kill people.

I have a K98, it's pretty cool. I think the ammunition is far more interesting to look at than the rifle itself. One day I'll probably get something more compact for protection, otherwise having an entire collection of guns really isn't my thing.

No I'm English, I'm an Ex Royal Marine Commando (did 7 years) and have shot more weapons and done more interesting things with weapons than 90%of the people that flamed me could even dream of.

Reading Kaybacks post makes me even more worried, shouldnt he have some kind of psycological screening before being an ATC? But he's also a police officer at the same time and he see's BF2 as a way of shooting "substitute" Humans. Your one screwed up person and you shouldnt be allowed to own weapons or be responsible for other people lives....just a judgment call and I'm making it.

Oh and on the maturity thing? I think I have more knowledge of gun safety, arcs of fire, bullet penetration and using weapons under extreme circumstances than many people. The amount of gun worship you read on these boards is f*cking pathetic. Half of the cretins don't know how to use the damn things (shooting in a nice little gun club isnt real training, I don't care how much you whine about shooting at fig.11 and 12 paper targets, it just isn't) The only gun owners that have proper training and respect for the wepons are those from a military or police background. Not many civilians are able to get proper training from courses other than those run by like minded mongoloids that need a semi-auto for home security.

As for thinking that BF2 is like real life?? Then that just shows your comic book ignorance of conflict.

It's a game, nothing more, nothing less. It's a good game but it isn't like shooting someone.

And to the person that mentioned golf clubs and knives? It is a lot easier to shoot someone than to plunge a knife into them or smash their brains out with a hammer or golf club, if you read psycologist reports in the papers then you'll note that there is a lot of agreement on this among people who know how a criminals mind works better than you or I.

This will end up in a typical flame war with Gun owners going on about rights etc, blah blah blah. And I have to partly agree, but I'll also state that a lot of people have a gun for the wrong reasons, i.e cause they get a kick out of it and it makes them feel hard (bit like cocaine probably). If it's for safety or protection then cool if you have proper training. I wouldnt class plinking at paper targets is proper training.

Canadian laws are strict on barrel length: it has to be 106mm or over... so the standard P22 is prohibited here. I have the 5-inch barrel version... (stabilizer added... really sucks because it likes moving around and stuff... doesn't stop me from having fun though)

did you lose the little microscopic set screw on top behind the front sight that holds the barrel stabilizer in place? I forgot to put mine back after cleaning one time and the recoil made the stabilizer twist a little, after I put it back in it was fine...

As for chickenhawk, I have read a lot of posts, what gun worship talk do you speak of? Are you talking about the people who like guns and like discussing them? To many guns are a hobby. Who are you to say they are pathetic because they talk about thier hobby? You could just as well call someone on this forum pathetic for posting hundereds of times about a video game, but it is their hobby and people should not judge them. I am sure you are very well trained and have been in actual combat and are far wiser than anyone else on this thread. But that does not make you any better because your hobby is race bikes or whatever, while guns are the focus of other peoples interest.

You do not need to be military to understand and respect guns. I for one have the utmost respect for firearms and know what they are capable of. I pray that I will never have to use my guns to defend myself but should the day arrise I will be prepared. And I do not need military training to know how to shoot a would be attacker.

Well that's how it happens. You get the people who are highly trained in the respect of everything firearms and most likely, their children will be very mindful of firearm safety and proper use, even in a bas situation.

It's also apperent that here in the USA, since guns are more prevelent, there is a better respect for what they are and what they are capable of.

To say that only military and police folks have the correct training is simply an opinion, which you are entitled to.

But here in Arizona, where carrying a weapon is neccessary when camping (everyon seems to think americans have guns for killing people when we have a big country and lots of mean animals). Almost everyone over 30 that carries a firearm knows how to use it and when to use it because it is engrained from all the other gun-owners out there.

You can't go to a gun club and act stupid - you'll learn real fast.

Myself. I'm 24. I own a Bushmaster dissipator ar-15. A VeprII RPK-47. A Dan Wesson .357 revolver. And a Colt Curior .22 carbine.

I've never been in the military, and I smoke too much pot to be a cop. I was taught, however, by my father (military background) and mother (corrections officer) the proper handling of a firearm. I'm safe with them.

I never put my finger on the trigger unless i plan on pulling it.
I assume every gun, even if dis-assembled, is loaded
I point loaded guns at the ground, not the sky.
I clean my guns regularly.
I understand there is no reason to point a weapon at any living thing unless you or someone else will die if you do not.

However,

I keep my revolver in between my matress and box-spring with the grip hanging out. I don't have any kids. I live alone.

I carry my revolver on me sometimes. I don't have a concealed carry permit, so it is visible at all times, which is sometimes a better deterent than actually pulling it out.

It's all opinions. You can sit on your high horse and say no one knows anything about safety unless they are in the military. But you forget that knowledge can be passed from person to person. That's how you got your knowledge

i own a Desert Storm Commemrative edition Glock 17, Winchester Model 1300 Defender, collapsible stock, 18.5 inch barrel with the plug taken out: 8 in mag, one in hole
Savage Southpaw 30.06, Marlin .444, S+W .500 Special Magnum 8 inch barrel,and i just bought a Ruger 10/22 target rifle, 20 inch HEAVY, blued barrel,(2)25 shot mags, .300 WSM , 7mm Remington, others that i cant even think of right now. :ar15:

I have no idea how many guns my dad and I have between us. I'll just name a few:

Professional Ordinance Carbon 15 (crap if you ask me)
HK SL8, USP Compact, M1 (I think...it's OEM by Remington)
SW .44 Ported, Model 500 (nasty monster), .44 not ported (another monster)

My favorite: Remington Model 700 Alaskan Wilderness (similar to the M24)

Plus some other shotguns etc.

Next purchase: Springfield M1 SOCOM II w/ extended rail. w00t

I wrote half , not all. I know there are a good amount of clubs that train and encourage good use of firearms. Thta is to be applauded....No sorry, that should be compulsory. I'm saying that it's the lack of knowledge that a few people can get away with that is bad.

I guess my earlier rant didnt make that plain.

When chickenhawk was talking about 'handling' guns and using them, he may not have just been talking about safeties etc on guns, but rather the psychological effects like buck fever..?
