GameSpy nick issue fix - "you cannot play this game ... "

I won't take any credit for this...but after reading it, it makes sense and should help a lot of you with your "you cannot play this game" issues.

I had the same problem as you guys,everytime you change your gamespy nickname to the same name you use in the game(BF2),it still comes up as "you cannot play this game you must buy it blah blah blah"I still havent changed my gamespy nickname through EA downloader,it wont let me,but i have found another way listen up!!!!!


Click on start menu
go to my computer
go to my documents
go to battlefield 2
go to profiles
(you will see some folders labelled 1.2 or 3,make sure there is a number 1,if you have say number 2 or 3,right click on it and rename it to 0001)
open up folder 1
left click on profiles and choose to open up with a selected program,either wordpad or text document(i used text document)
you will then get a screen like this


LocalProfile.setName""
LocalProfile.setNick""
LocalProfile.setGamespyNick""
LocalProfile.setEmail ""
LocalProfile.setPassword ""

you see where it says setName"",put the same name you use in battlefield 2 game here,make sure it is inbetween the inverted commas,do the same for SetNick ""and the same for GamespyNick""

so for example in the game Battlefield 2 ,the name i use to log in with to the account server is say for example JOHN WOODS89,then you would put it in like this



LocalProfile.setName"JOHN WOODS89"
LocalProfile.setNick"JOHN WOODS89"
LocalProfile.setGamespyNick"JOHN WOODS89"
LocalProfile.setEmail ""
LocalProfile.setPassword ""

you can put your email address in too where it says setemail but i didnt have to so i would just leave it!!

click out in top right corner of notepad and save,load the game up euroforce,or battlefield 2 it doesnt matter which one you load up and the try a euroforce map,as i say it worked for me,i hope it works for you,let me know how you get on

But it didn't work... sorry. It still shows me "You cannot play..." message I'm really getting confused. :cry:
