How well SHOULD BF run on my system?

What kinda frame rate on what settings should the following setup run bf:

AMD 2800+
GeForce 6600GT 128MB DDR on AGP
Standard sound card
1GB DDR @ PC3200
7200 RPM HDD with heaps of space
DSL 1.5Mbit

Ok, your system is VERY similar to my brother's.

He runs at 1024x768x32 with the following settings:
-terrain medium
-textures medium
-geometry high
-AA 2X
-dynamic shadows low
-dynamic lighting low
-lighting medium
-effects medium
-texture filtering medium
-view distance 100%

..he may have a couple of those on high even...

He runs at around 40 fps average on full 64 player servers and he is quite pleased. You have a faster CPU so you should get slightly higher.

my setup is similar toi urs, with the latest pacth im playing all on low, part med textures & 2xaa @ 1280x1024, but on patch 1.2 i was able to play medium to high.

Everything is on medium @ 800x600 with no AA and i can just get 40fps.

Time for a little optimization?

When was the last time you defragged?
When was the last time you did a complete re-format/OS re-install?
Do you keep a lot of crap running in the background?

Wow my laptop is worse than that and i get all med. 8Xaa 1024X768 and 40-50 fps, but with Fraps recording i only get 15-20 fps

You say AMD 2800. Do you mean Athlon XP, Sempron, or Athlon 64? I'm assuming AXP.

^ yeah, that makes a difference i was wondering too. but from the looks I would say 1024x768 medium, medium-low. download the demo and try for yourself. it isnt about the exact FPS you get, its about if you feel it is playable.

I dont defrag. I format. Then i do a complete reinstall. About a week ago. No hardly anything.

I am not stupid like some people trying to run bf on a sempron. And if i had a 64 bit processor i would have said AMD64 ####.

BF2 will run just fine on a sempron. Sempron is actually better than the Athlon XPs.
