How much would upgrading from 512MB RAM to 1GB of RAM do.

Your game will run so much smoother. If you have a good enough graphics card, more ram will give you the ability to play with everything on high and no problems. Well, that's just my experience.Comment

We have essentially the same box. It runs very nice on 2GB. Besides the CPU, which is nice in your case, memory is THE single biggest factor in performance. I dont know much about your video card. I just hope it has 256MB.Originally posted by Curtis12

I dont know about that. I got 256mb on my nVidia and I still set it to medium. I also have a laptop and it seems to get really, really hot on the high settings. Medium is good enough for me. (Low settings suck, though).Originally posted by Enz0Comment

You will notice alot of difference, I did when I upgraded from 512MB to 1024MB.

1gb will be a good change. The problem is the motherboard. Depending on what you have, you may have to literally throw away (or Ebay) your existing memory if you later decide to upgrade. Only you know your options. If you can get to 1gb now, and then be able to add 1gb later, then you're fine. In my example, I had a Toshiba laptop that came with 512mb, in one 512mb stick. I could have gone to 1gb, but that would have taken up my only free slot. If I then wanted to go to 2GB, I'd have to throw out my memory and get two 1GB sticks. The preexisting memory would be useless.
dood...you got a hot box. Throw some serious memory at it. Sell your butt on the corner if ya gotta do it, but get to 2gb.

You could buy 1gb sticks, but will your PC allow that memory configuration? Some are picky as to how they allow memory upgrades, though I think this used to be more of a problem in the past.Originally posted by Curtis12

Thanks i was already searching that site and found that if i needed 2gb some cards will work as i have an DELL DIMENSION 4700 well if i get an upgrade it will only be 1gb for now as i only have about 250$ and wouldnt want to spend it all and im in canada so it says 120$ so thats quite a bit here and i dont have a job because im 14Originally posted by BoojieComment
