I was wondering if unlockable guns are categorically superior to their regular counterparts or whether they are simply different. I understand that there is a marked difference between them but is the unlocked one necessarily better in every situation or do unlocked kits simply give you a reserve of different weapon types to choose from?

Some of them may be a tiny bit better, but mostly they are just different.
For example, I find the G36E very good for long range to mid rage fighting, but up close, I'd much rather be spraying with an AK101...... but thats just me! -

Just gives you some new toys to play with. Really there are things just as good in the standard guns...some may disagree with me, but really this is true. So you may be good with X gun instead of Y thus you think X is superior to Y...well, I may be better at using Y than X...so...just opinions really.Comment

I would say that it also depends on what army you are fighting for. Each has their weak points that can be helped greatly by the right unlock. A good example is the MEC sniper. I would rather have my L96A1 over a SVD any day. If I was on USMC then the only difference between the M24 and the L96A1 is the scope and theL96A1 is slightly faster to reload.
This website might help you.

Speak the truth brother, AK family owns all! To bad the USMC only rival for the ak is the G3 unlock but again the AK still trumps it. Only if the G3 had a 30 round clip or GL.
But it all comes down to how you shoot your weapon. Some fit my shooting style and some suit others.
Oh and I love the AK-47.Comment
