Okay, EA has done it again.
I am in the Netherlands. And I am confused.
The featured link says 'purchase from US only' and I will not even try this, after reading the post from countries where it says 'not possible' AFTER putting in the CC details.
EAs German webshop (which is broken beyond belief and does not work in Opera, only IE) claims I have to pay shipping costs - wtf? So does Amazon.de. Are they going to SHIP me a piece of paper with a download code? Bl**dy irony their downloader's slogan is 'no shipping costs'.
I apologize for being far more rude than I am usually, but what are those effing retards at EA doing?
All this follows the episode where they scammed me (and presumably many other Europeans!) out of money by claiming that Special Forces is so-and-so-many dollars, and then charging my CC the same amount in Euros without ever mentioning this before purchase, which is THEFT. And then their pointless customer service a) ignores me for weeks b) closes my accounts c) has the most broken website in existence and d) is telling me its not EAs fault (*doh*) but the fault of their European billing partner, who I am supposed to contact but they do not even give me a bit of contact information for that partner and close my support case again!
Frankly Im so friggin mad how EA treats their customers.
Darn shame and irony I still want to have Euro Forces. Darn shame BF2 is still so much fun despite DICE and EAs rotten attitude.
So if anyone could potentially enlighten me what the best way is to download Euro Forces without shipping costs or such (or idealy without using their broken webshop, thats the reason I tried Amazon.de first) I'd be very grateful.
UPDATE: I tried the page from this thread: http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59644 but at the screen where I confirm my order (all screens have lots of non-displaying elements, red X'es in IE) it tells me "Sorry. The account name you've entered does not match.". I have no clue what this is about - is this my EA account name it complains now (10 steps after entering it) about? The page has two more text boxes without explaination under the order summary, I tried putting my BF2 name in there, no luck either.
Update 2: Now I get this:
The web page couldn't be shown because of an internal error.
How to Fix the Problem:
Unfortunately, since you have encountered this error because of some server problem on our end, there's really nothing you can do bla bla
UPDATE 3: Now, finally, its downloading. I shall now begin drawing a pentagram and burn the BF2 manuals inside, dancing arround it and trying to please the gods that the thing actually installs without hassle (not like Special Forces, which forced me to run PartitionMagic cause the installer wanted space on the C: and the game partition that it never ever used).
Oh my. Once you start ranting about EA and DICE, there just is no end ...
