Finally got my knife badge! With tips!!!
Yup, finally got that stupid knife badge....next i need explosive ordinance (to complete my basics)
So, i was playing a Karkand Server, i've had the most luck gettig knife kills there. But, i've gotten 3-6 knife kills IRA at Wake (snipers in like every bush) and Sharqi (Sharqi is really good for ambushes) Preferably a 32 Player or less server, (more time to set up attacks/ambushes)
Anyways, the tactics? Camping Spawns, Stalking, Knife Diving, Knife vs. Gun
I tried them all, and actually, while you can get good kills with just spawn camping, the enemy catches on quick, and your an easy target for ambush. So, i quickly dropped that tactic, partly cuz it was a 16 player server and no one was spawning :p.
Stalking? Personally its my favorite, nothing more gratifying to me than following a guy forever just to have him stop and let you knife him in the back. However, don't use this tactic while playing AT/Support/Assualt (you can't run as long as the other classes)
Knife Diving? Probably the 1st tactic for knife users in a battlefield, nothing can pysche an enemy out more than seeing someone charge them (from and angle, not head on) and diving right on to them with a kill. Especially useful for PKM users cuz they are always prone and usually only focusing on a limited part of the battlefield.
Knife vs. Gun? Not the easiest kill, probably the most heart pounding kill though. If your that desperate to just straight duel someone, make sure you always strafe alot and use run (also not good for the heavier classes, even if they can take an extra hit or two) Make sure you don't use this against someone with a good shotgun (by good i mean they don't have to pump after each shot, so be wary of AT w/ unlock, Engineer w/ unlock, or MEC engineers)
Usually you'll end the round with a somewhat unsatisfying K|D ratio, but, hey... you just made it past the most difficult stage in making 1st Sergeant
My hypernia sig doesn't show it yet, but i got my badge...i even got veteran pistol in the same round :p
