Why can't you change your ingame name?

I dont understand why you can't change your ingame name. Why have ea/dice diceded that you shouldn't be allowed to have a ingame name diffrent from your account name and why arent you allowed to change your account name?

I'd say not being able to change your account name is because say your a known stat padder or something, then servers know who to look out for, and EA can easily track you if you are caught in the act.

Well that could just as easily be done using cd-keys or your account name (if you where able to edit your ingame name independntly from it)

or numbered ID's which I'm sure they already have in their database, because almost every database has a unique ID number for each entry... maybe there would be a way ingame to get someone's ID number and write it down. This would be a good way of tracking jerks and a way of keeping people happy you fancy a alias change.

Basicly honest players are punished for the bad deeds of cheats.. Really makes you wonder why anyone should go out of their way to be fair and honest, since we are the ones screwed..

Basically, like metioned before, because of stats. People would get away with things easy. If you notice, you can change your name in games such as Counter Strike just by goingto the options menu because there's no individual company you have to register with becides Valve. Plus, there aren't any ranks, unlocks, badges, ribbons, CSS is all just fun.

But bleh.

Every player name has a numeric "PID" which you can see in your stats. When someone gets banned, I understand it's done by PID (and CDKey in more extreme cases), not by name. There is no good reason I can think of why you shouldn't be able to change the text name associated with that PID except that they didn't feel like making the effort.
