Ive just finished installing BF2 Special Forces and when I go to launch the game using the "Battlefield 2 Special Forces" icon it goes black screen then back to the desktop. Can anyone help me? Please PM me cause Ill probarbly lose this thread.

AMD Athlon 3200+
2x 512Mb RAM
nVidia 6800GT
1x 40GB HDD
1x 120GB HDD

Not sure if the hard drives have anything to do with it.

Can't think of much from this point, if all else fails, a fresh reinstall off of vanilla always usually solves all problems.

Ive just been browsing the BF2 EA website and spotted something not sure if it will work but meh.

While installing BF2 SF it patches version 1.1, and on the website there is a 1.2 patch. Could this be the reason its not launching?

Not really, an unpatched version of BF2 would still launch perfectly fine, you just wouldn't be able to join any servers.

The current patch is v.1.21, So patch up, and it doesn't hurt to try and see if it fixes it.

Vanilla means the original BF2 without any patches, mods, or tweaks of any sort installed. Uninstall everything, reinstall BF2, and then SF, plus the latest patch.

Yeah works fine now, reinstalled the original BF2 and then SF, wish I done that sooner could have saved me alot of frustration.
