    BF2 performance

I have been searching for good tweaks to get BF2 working better and im looking for some more.

    My computer information:

    1.8Ghz Celeron
    512mt ram
    Ati 9600 Pro 256mb

    I have done these tweaks:

    Rename BF2.exe
    No viruses or spyware
    I have defragmented drives
    Newest Omega drivers
No Windows XP theme effects etc...
    No background programs running

Is there anything else i could do to get BF2 working better?
Fps around 15 too often, that sucks :)

    Re: BF2 performance

Please dont be upset but your ram and video are your problem.
I had 1gig and I was still getting some choppy garbage.
Just upgraded to 2 gigs this game is only really happy with 2gigs of ram.
This game is also more friendly to Nvidia cards than ATI with the 1.2 patch they nuked the ATI's for 4 weeks before the 1.21 hotfix came out and I have not heard if they are working better again.
I went from a ATI 9800 Pro 128 to a eVga Nvidia 7800GS 256 its like night and day.

In reallity your system is not bad it's just this game is a hog and you can't go by what's on the out side of the BF 2 box for system specs because they are lying through their teeth.

I guess the best thing you could do is get more ram that will show you the most gain in performace.

        1) Yes, if any ATI user was taming their settings, well, go crazy with them.

        2) COMPLETELY different cards, like comparing a nVidia 5700 to a 7800.

I think that processor is not enough to handle BF2... Celerons are not meant for gaming at all

Yes i also think that my processor is the problem, if i buy more ram, it will not help because my processor is the bottleneck.

But do you people know any tweaks that i could free some more ram that windows uses or something like that? :p

I would still buy more ram, its cheap for a 1GB stick.

                  Re: BF2 performance

Another idea is that it really doesn't matter how much RAM you have but it does help. But most of all if you don't have a good processor (GHz.) like your system 1.8 and your Internet Connection is not good then your out of luck. Please do not take any comments personally just trying to help in anyway. :)
