Quick Question

I realize its not possible to switch classes when you are alive unless you pick up a kit, however if the game has not started yet, can you change on the fly?

stupid question I know but i am trying to make sense of what i just watched...

If it hasn't started, you still have to die or grab a kit to change, however you could just suicide because the deaths don't count
