1.21 Ctd

Hi all,
please help me here - have reinstalled bf2 and 1.21 patch.

When starting bf2, screen goes black, blinks a couple of times, then returns to desktop.

Have reinstalled ATI video driver. My system is Dell 8400.

Any ideas are highly appreciated.

Try deleting the contents of:

C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Username>\My Documents\Battlefield 2

Deleted said folder (and profiles in bfs folder).
But no, still going back to desktop.

Botkicker go post what type of video card you have, Ram, Motherboard and any othehr info describing the problem in this thread.

I have a AIW 9800 Pro that is still CTD as soon as I launch the game. I have tried a lot of combination of things; but still no luck.

Grr that stinks..so it has nothing to do with cache or Battlefield 2 settings.

Something else is interfering.

Make sure you are running the latest drivers for your video, sound, and motherboard.
Make sure you are not using any ***** cracks.
Make sure any firewalls are off or disabled.
Make sure you are not forcing refresh rate in any way (through a 3rd party app, or through drivers).

Knowing your system specs would be helpful...I don't know what is in that particular model of Dell machine.

And I tried to run bf2 without my firewall. Same result, darn.

Getting late now. Must get some shuteye. I'll continue Friday ...

Hey botkicker you might want to try this out. Sorry I am just really excited I can start playing again.
It seems it had to do with my refresh rate; it was always at 70 or 75 for all games and was working fine on BF2; now I set it to 85 and the game starts up and doesn't CTD.
Talus is the man, thx bro.
Can't believe I did everything but change the refresh rate for the last few days; just goes to show you guys simple things like that make it bye while you are chugging your computer apart.
Wow still can't believe it; off to game now!

Yeah, refresh rate and vsync can sometimes really screw this game up.

i've got the same problem, and i've got a dell 8400 as well. Same thing happens. The annoying thing is that it worked up until yesterday
