Another "Can't login to server account" problem

I saw many ppl ran into this problem recently. I too ran into the problem.
I applied the patch 1.21 on Mar. 11 and it was working perfectly! But after few days, the problem comes. I couldn't login to the server account since Mar. 14.

I did uninstall and reinstall everything, but that didn't help. So I reinstalled the WinXP! :cry: And reinstalled the BF2 and BF2:SF. After that I installed the patch 1.21. However all of these works wouldn't help me to be able to connect to the account server. "The server has refused the connection." is the message I always see.

Here are some info about my situation:
- BF2 & BF2:SF: Installed (Fresh installation after reinstalling WinXP)
- Patch 1.21: Installed
- WinXP SP2 and other latest M$ updates: Installed
- WinXP firewall: Open
- Norton Antivirus 2004 Pro: Installed
- Can't connect to the game server. And can't create new account.
- Tried to remove bf2.exe from firewall exception list and let it be added again
- Emailed EA but no reply...although it said EA would reply me within 24 Hrs.

After reading through the forum, I saw ppl said to let Norton re-recognize the game...but i have no idea how to do it with my Norton Anitvirus...

Could anyone give me a hint how to solve this problem??

Have you tried uninstalling Norton?
Have you tried disabling the Windows XP firewall?

No for both.
I will try it later today...

But I wonder how come it worked before...but it doesn't work now...

Shooter, you say you found the cause of this problem to be with your ISP. Could you please be more specific. Did the ISP change something that you had to have them change back or ...?

Yes, I think my ISP changed some settings which affected the ports used by bf2. After contacting them, I can play now...but the weird part is that I will lose the internet connections(i.e. Internet Explorer) but remain the connection of bf2. However, I'd lose the connection of bf2 if i switch to BF2:SF for about half an hour...really weird...

EDIT - Problem solved!

Problem was caused by my ISP. The ISP switch/routing was preventing me from accessing www.gamespyarcade.com (this is the account server domain) and from accessing www.gamespyid.com/lostpassword.aspx (this is where you retrieve forgotten passwords from).

I am connecting to a different domain name at the ISP which allows my request through to these URLs. The ISP opened a ticket to fix the routing problem on the domain I normally use to connect.
