Shot down a jet but no kill was given. Video inside

I was goofing around with Fraps while flying and caught this action. I shot down a jet but no kill was given to me. You don't even see the game list him as dead. What is this? I've never seen this before.

Jet was empty, man. He had just bailed. It happens.

AH! Good call. Wish I had thought of that. LOL It drove me nuts for hours wondering why. I never did see him bail even on the original vid which is better quality than the youtube vid. Oh well. I also thought it was my boy Soup Nazi who I'm dying to shoot down.

If it was indeed me, I probably bailed. I don't let others shoot me down if I can help it. If I'm out of flares and can't shake someone off my tail in time, I'll bail 9 times out of 10.

Edit: when did you record this video? I don't remember ever bailing last night (or being chased, for that matter, either).

I can't remember what time it was exactly. I am pretty sure you were playing at the time but not sure if you were flying or not.

Wow...most pilots DON'T bail..they'd rather go down with the plane so that they can get it again on respawn.

                Good on ya!

Aye bailing is a good plan, the grunt will stop manning AA, the pilot will stop dogfighting, funny lot in BF2 most play for points.

I never bail, if a .50 cal plops me down to the 2 bars left where I'm on flames and I have time to jump out over the enemy airbase with my M95, I won't.

I'll bail if there's no way I can make it back but if it's not beeping real bad I'm trying to get back to the strip or ship for some wrench time. You usually have to fight so hard just to get in one I damn sure don't want to give it up unless I absolutely have to. If I'm shot down by another plane I'll take it like a man rather than jump ship.

Here's a quick clip of a what you put up with getting a jet. I'm just lucky he wasn't a sniper.

Yes, this is a common bug, I find myself killing enemies and not getting kills all the time.

ehh..as voiced many times, its not a bug. The Pilot simply bailed.

For your experiences, the driver of the vehicle probably bailed out of site as well, and if you were shooting an actual person and didn't get the kill, someone else probably stole it before you did.

I'm so sick of people doing this. Just a couple weeks ago, I had 4, yes 4, idiotic teammates do the same thing to me. At the same time. On Moongamers. And no admin was present to deal with them.

I'm of the opinion that EA/Dice should rethink such situations so that the players standing in front of the jets while taxiing should be charged with a suicide and no penalty towards the pilot. This would probably help with the incessant griefing on the runways.

That's becasue people know it's easy to whore with the plane. I mean you don't see people jumping in front of the Vodnik. Because it's easy to shoot at. Not planes.
