OK I suck at BF2 / EU now - Help

Normally (but not always) when I play BF2 I do pretty well. Usually in the top five, get top squad as I'm a competent squad leader, etc.

However, with EU now, I just get WORKED! I'm now usually in the bottom 5 and it's incredibly frustrating. On the Great Wall Map I get sniped every 5 seconds, and the other two maps I get bombed by planes or shot up by helicopters non stop.

Does EF require a different playing style, or do I need to just get used to the maps and their differences.

Anyone else experiencing this?

BTW the FAMAS is like the auto shotty of assult rifles. You just hold down the trigger at relatively close range and the enemy has no chance. None.

Any help here would be much appreciated.

One thing I learned *well common sense I guess* Takes a sniper to kill a sniper. I would definetly recommend getting in some practice as a sniper in single player with the AI at Hard or normal then go up to hard. That's one strategy, another one is run with a good squad, get the sniper fire dispersed between you and a few other members instead of just one person, have the snipers have to pick a target, hopefully while their doing that, another squad member is a sniper laying back, and can anti-snipe. That's one strategy I use. I'm usually the sniper though. As far as dodging the bombs, nothing that I can think of. Try getting on the map as fast as possible, get a APC or something, rush their control point, destroy their assets and kill their planes. That'll give you a little more time to have your team take over some points *in a perfect world* . Theirs my two strategies. Either sniper from afar, rack up a lot of kills, stay out of spots that aren't well covered from fire (the other side of the wall isn't great, it's an expected spot to be) Destroy enemy assets, gets you points and buys you some time to have your team hopefully take a control point or at least advance. - My two pennies.

My goal here with this thread is to generate general game play tips and tricks for EF. As of right now, this area of the forum has nothing in this area, so I thought I'd start a thread that would generate them.

i realised with smoke screen the only way to survive is to roll in tank colomns and the tanks be used by engineers i tell ya know its a pure kick ass session, using AT mines are usuful on the bombed out oil canister flag (sorry im not familuar with the flag names yet) but lots of AT mines around there can generate problems for opposition but i guess thats just common sence with tanks and colomns let me know if you guys find this useful

I dunno about tank columns, they are just bait for attack chopper t.v guided shots.
That map needs mobile AA, it may have it as I have only played the map a few times and have not found it so far.

Yeah it has mobile AA. I think 2 per team. Its hard to find them considering there are 100 other vehicles. EF is gay.

yeah tank columns is the way to go - on operation smokescreen atleast - but i havent seen any one use that tactic to its full potential as of now. As for those columns being bait for the choppers... They are raped beyond all consideration by a column of tanks m8.

i haven't got to really play yet but i sounds as if EA is going for that DC feel back nice armor and modrate aircrafts I would love to see the Howitzer cannon tank you know the paldin one

It's just the new maps. You will eventually get used to them.

Avoid these things! If you're constantly getting hit by snipers, I suggest trying to avoid going on the actual wall. If you're getting hit by planes or helicopters a lot, I suggest again going infantry and just hiding out at an enemy base. If you get into a vehicle, you're gone.

Enzo i agree with you in some cases and also disagree its easy to see a sniper on the euro side on the wall but as for the vehicles i wouldnt use them on great wall simply as you cant see mines (engineer rapage) but with the vehicles you can always drop smoke , got to keep this short a sweet got to go back to work now....

Well there is no point going support or assault on quarry or smoke screen, You will almost always need to have something to take out a tank Spec op is ideal really. Great wall, Just stay up on the walls with everyone stay back and look out for flashes coming from the tower parts of the wall and you can usually kill the PKMer.

Its obviously going to be different if you only play city maps. I for one hate the new tanks and pretty much armor alltogether but I guess you kind of have to use it at times.

Best tactics i've found for smokescreen so far is to got as AT and get a mobile AA...that way you have best of both worlds...something to shoot the planes down with and something to shoot at the the incoming tanks...also if in the 2nd see of an AT with a launcher is good as you effectively double up the vehichle as ground and air defence...obvioulsy if you can surround yourself in a column of other armor and engineers thats gonna be a help aswell! but yeah...i'm loving this map!

played great wall for first time last night...not sure on tactics for this at the mo except for mine the entrances and archways so enemy vehicles can't get through
