Entered wrong ID in EA Downloader? You can still play!

I, like many of you it seems, entered the wrong ID when purchasing Euro Force. I attempted to change my member name in the downloader to match my BF2 ID and it "seemed" successful....

But I could not log into the EA Downloader with my "correct" ID. I thought I was locked out (as mentioned in the sticky thread above).

But all I had to do was close EA Downloader, load up BF2 and click multiplayer. All the EF maps that had been previously red, were now available. I just clicked on Great Wall (for example), and I was able to play online!

Yes, EA is retarded......But, you can still play even if your EA Downloader login is different from your BF2 login.

Hope this helps anyone who thinks they wasted $10 :)

I figured it out.

Steps you should take.

1. Open your EA downloader
2. Go to "Edit Gamespy Nickname" and change it to the account name you want to use on BF2. You don't need to change the password.
3. EA downloader should login with your original user and pass. Not the new one you just put in. The reason for this is because i think the EA downloader links to EA's servers, while BF2 links to Gamespy servers.

This should be all. Remember to take note of your usernames/passwords.
