The accuracy deal may or may not be true but I do know that currently, the difference between ease of a headshot with the L96 and the M95 is night and day.

I'll agree with that, but I will definitely say that because of the body armor penetration, it's easier to get kills on moving targets (especially ones not too far away) with the M95.

Basically, the L96/M24 are better if your target gives you a good shot, the M95 is better if they don't.

I doubt you'll be happy with the M95. The only use I've had for it was to leapfrog me to the L96.

Sounds like he doesn't have SF though, in which case MEC/China he'll be stuck with the SVD/Type 88 otherwise. And regardless of the outcome of the L96/M95 debate, I think it's safe to say having a nice long-range bolt-action when you're not US is worth picking an unlock for. :)

PKM. I use it mainly for Karkand (yep I'm a Karkand whore) and I average 40 points a round, roughly.

Ok, I am roughly 700 points away from Staff Sergeant. With all of the time and sweat I have put into the game this far, I want this next unlock to mean something. Here are the choices I have.

1. JackHammer (Engineer)
2. PKM (Support)
3. M95 (Sniper)
4. DAO (AntiTank)

Now. I really love the AntiTank kit, but the regular AntiTank smg is crap. I know that the DAO is some type of shotgun. Is it good? Also, I have really wanted to start sniping, but that damn USMC sniper really really blows badly. Is the M95 better? The PKM... well, I don't know. With all of the talk about it being spammed and too easy, I don't know if that would be a wise choice for an unlock. I like racking up points like anyone else, but I want it to test my skills and be somewhat difficult. When it comes to the JackHammer, still not sure. To my knowledge, it is an auto shotgun like the DAO. I usually use engineer to repair assets and lay mines.

Well, there you have it. Give me your honest opinion and hopefully the unlock I choose will serve me well in my future battles. Thanks!

Since you said you're close to staff sgt, i assume you already had 3 unlocks at least. My first 2 unlocks was DAO and PKM. I wonder what you had unlocked for your first 3.

After patch 1.2, i'd unlock PKM before DAO. But if you play AT alot, maybe DAO first.
M95 isn't as accurate as M24. Unless youre serious game sniper, otherwise don't waste on it.
If you really like Engy, Jackhammer is a good chocie too. It was my third unlock.

I don't hate the M95...I guess I'm just not good with. I just don't think I could ever go back to those thick crosshairs after using the L96.

The reason the crosshairs are so thick on the M95 is because it is a .50 calibre rifle!

In real life if the crosshairs were any thinner, the recoil from the .50 being fired would most likely break the reticle.

If you want a sniper rifle against infantry, use the standard rifles, if you want to take out infantry behind ARMOURED GLASS then pick the M95

I've unlocked the G3, L85A1 and G36C so far. The PKM wasn't even available until now as an unlock.

Actually, the kick is not bad. It compares to a 12 gauge (slightly worse) and the kick is more of a push. It's enough to make you jerk the trigger in anticipation of the shot though, if you aren't concentrating. I think a 30.06 is worse, to be honest with you. A well made scope shouldn't break reticles from recoil...at least I've never seen it.

The main advantage of the M95 is NOT its crap anti-vehicle capability (unless you're a TKing noob that wants the attack copter), it's that it ignores body armor, so if you hit an AT or one of the 10,000 support now, you'll still knock off 95% of their health.

It's also that even if you like the M24 better for the accuracy, you're not gonna get the M24 unless you're on the US.

I really don't get the crosshair thickness complaint either, it's not like they completely envelope the target's head, and even if it's distant you can tell where it is just off of posture. The real kicker's the drop, which is hard to guage.

Seriously..has anyone ever shot a helicopter pilot through the glass? I think people read that and think "hell yeah..I'm going to PWN helos now!!" and then they get in the game and realize it's incredibly difficult to get a shot at a moving helicopter pilot.

It depends on how far away they are and if they're prone or not. There have been shots in which I had to move the crosshairs to the side to see where the target was and then move it back to the estimated position because the crosshairs completely obscured the target. Not the case with the M24 and certainly not with the L96. You are definitely right about the bullet drop though. You have to be a fairly good judge of distance and then know how to account for the drop to use the M95 with any degree of effectiveness.

I have tried many time with only one successful shot. Black hawk was in a semi hover with little forward movement. Took a lucky shot and killed the pilot and a fully loaded black-hawk. Pure luck and I have yet to do it again

good summations right there...

what i say...unlock the gun for the kit that you will be using the most, or whichever kit you plan on getting your next badge for...personally i would go with the pkm or the dao...the m95 has nothing special about and the jackhammer goes through ammo way to fast for only having 7 shells
