    Special forces showing few servers.

    Hello TotalBF2 community!

    I have a lil' problem...

I did just get BF2:SF, and here's what I've done so far:
    • Installed Battlefield 2: Special Forces.
    • Downloaded patch 1.20 & installed.
    • Downloaded patch 1.20>1.21 and installed. (Incremental)
    • Updated punkbuster.

    To the problem...

When I start Special Forces and searches for servers it only finds 40 servers.
    Simple as that...

...maybe it's because I didn't install 1.21 FULL, but Incremental.
So what I'm going to do, I'm going to install the full version and let you guys know if it worked. While I do that and watch Naruto, maybe you guys can discuss what my problem might be if the 1.21 FULL won't work.

This did NOT fix the problem. I will try to reinstall everything... Damn.

    Thanks in advance,
    Kixfox

what filters are you using, are you looking for small, medium, and large maps? I agree there are far fewer SF servers, but I generally see over 100 going at any one time......now ping issues are another story

I use all filters except BattleComo and BattleRecorder.

I think it is the slow demise of Special Forces...too bad, it is a great x-pack.

Use the minimum number of filters you need. For instance you don't need to check punkbuster, all ranked servers have to run it anyway so that's a waste. Keep your filter checked below 6.

Having said that we haven't run SF since 1.2 and the crashing problem whenever a tow was fired from a vehicle on 2 maps, bam the server would crash. Everytime the server crashed it would take a while for SF to restart and depending on the time of day or night may not restart again.

A lot of people have stopped playing SF because of some problems. I know myself I still can't fly a heli because of the heli pilot seat slideshow which DICE have made clear no more support for SF, so why should we support it?

Its obvious that most of the SF servers were private ranked servers and without our support there will be a massive shortage. They may now have switched to running EF, but soon you will find they won't because servers will be hard to start especially if they crash. Empty servers aren't worth the money so they will be back running vanilla again.

Re: Special forces showing few servers.

                    I use 6 filters and I don't filter punkbuster.

If I uncross populated it showed 600 servers, but when I cross populated it only shows 60 servers.. that's a shame.

And most servers are running Win32, I hate that, takes ages to verify.

Well, I guess I'll use Qtracker, atleast I found some servers there. ^^

Thanks anyway for your help, sucks that I bought the expansion so late, I love the intensive fightings on warlord.

its similar to the ASE browser. I loved ASE until yahoo took it over and then rarely updated their filters. Then I found qtracker! you set it up so it only updates servers in your area (north america, euro, etc), then install the mapshot packs and custom filters. It has a great unlimted buddy list and you can even put buddy list filters in [clantag]. I made a bunch of filters (see my sig), and a SF mapshot pack. Maybe once I get EF, Ill make a pack for that too. unlike ASE showing you the server details in the lower window, you have to click on a server to pop up the server detail window.
